when i was a kid i was living in a candy DROUGHT most of the year. halloween was the rare exception where ONE SINGLE NIGHT i could go to as many houses as possible to build up my candy reserves for the future which i guarded and hoarded like it was fort knox.

these days..kids have what seems to be WEEKS and WEEKS of events prior to halloween and are in virtual candy overload by the time halloween hits. halloween is fun but not nearly the same because the kids don't have the same level of excitement.

its like saturday morning cartoons. youtube & cable has ruined that. we waited all week long for the rare opportunity to sit in front of the tv until mom chased us out the door on saturday to glimpse maybe 3 hours of our favorites.

kids today. they don't get to appreciate the anticipation of waiting.

My neighbor across the street had
-chocolate
-Blow Pops
-Goldfish

I was certain that the kids wanted candy and she said "no no, the kids love Goldfish" so I had her put the goldfish in the back and the chocolate in the front, sure enough every kid for 10 mins took Goldfish

I had about a hundred trick or treaters last night that seemed to be having a really good time.

I cannot relate to you and have no clue about what "events" prior to Halloween you are referring to. My kids had more fun last night than I ever did on Halloween. And I had a great time back then.

I don't now what kind of kids you have, but my kids went to an event and racked up candy on Saturday and were still just as excited for Halloween night as I ever was as a kid.

Sorry you were poor baw.

I had a bicycle, I watched a few cartoons. After beetlejuice, Looney tunes and heathcliff & riff raff I was gone. Only came back when the sun was down and played Mario 3 and duck hunt.

whats really funny is watching the kids that get rides to each house instead of walking to trick or treat... watching one car unload made me wonder how the suspension was still intact

One house was giving out two ounce size bottles of bourbon to the parents. There were a couple of places that handed out healthier treats to the kids but some of these people spent more than a thousand on halloween
