We all buy what we like, and I'm not sold that I need 450 hp in a car. I'd rather a 250 hp car on a super solid chassis with quality components. I want it to last, and I want the style to be palatable for many years. The edgy sports inspired stuff looks great when it's new, but that appeal never seems to age well, to me. I'm just one old shmuck though.

If I can afford better performance, I'm certainly going to buy it. The style will still be palatable - especially with the German cars. Minor aero and rims are really the only things that set the trims apart aesthetically. Plus the resale on an AMG, M, or S car will always be better than their lower trim counterparts...but to each their own. The only car I can think of where that thinking may be valid is with the new Jaguar F Type where the V6 models generally get more praise for overall balance vs. the V8 models.

Been with them for 15 years and may keep buying German till I'm done.

Last 4 have been Audi, Audi, Audi, Mercedes (current).

Kinda want to try a BMW next but everytime I compare to Audi I find I like Audi design better and it is less expensive.

The new C class Mercedes looks much better than it used to. I like it very much, but I'm also sort of in love with the new Cadillac CTS-V and BMW M3.

The Japanese cars don't do much for me...especially the funky looking new cars from Lexus. It's a shame because there are great vehicles under that hideous styling.

Vette, I know we had this discussion. That being said if Lexus Is copying they're doing everything right. I drove an RX350 last summer while on holiday. It was a beautiful ride. I can see why all the over 60s get it. My better ride and feel than my wife's LR4 (which I love). I have an Audi and can't say anything but good things. Well, except that it feels a bit underpowered compared to the 5 series.

My problem with this car, and it may have been stated before is that it looks just like the S class. I like a clear differentiation between the plebeians in the patricians.

I don't disagree, really. Where I fault Asain car companies is the lack of groundbreaking style, especially with their sedans. Real quick, close your eyes and imagine the Lexus flagship sedan.

Now do the same thing with MB and BMW.

See my point?

I've only had Japanese luxury brands but I couldn't have had better service out of them. Until they give me a reason to change, I won't. I was at the M-B Museum last week in Stuttgart, a wonderful place to visit.
Highly recommended as a place to visit.

As a fringe benefit, I was even able to insult an Arkansas fan in the restaurant there and he was too dumb (spelled "A-r-k-a-n-s-i-a-n") to notice.

I'm minding my own business eating there and I'm wearing a purple polo shirt with a small LSU logo.
He walks up and says, "Are you an LSU fan? From America?"
I respond "Yes."
He says "I'm an Arkansas fan!"
I said "I'm sorry." and went back to eating and my conversation in (what passes for my version of) German with my dinner partner.

I just can't get over Toyota/Lexus reliability.

The German cars are not as reliable and the service is insanely expensive.

This, plus Infiniti.

I have a 2015 Mercedes C300. I have been very pleased thus far ~8,200 miles in.

It's a baby S-class in design and finish. I enjoy it... Doubtful I ever spend much more than I did on our in any car in the future.

My next car will likely be a S5 or S6 depending on what models look like in 4-5 years. I will probably purchase these used as the new car price on these models gets into the 60s.

Agreed, but a friend who is an engineer at the Tuscaloosa, AL plant told me this, MB wants to get the 20 and 30 somethings in their cars earlier so they continue to purchase MB's for life. Maybe its all the MB employees in Bham, but I feel like I see a shite ton of MB's around town daily.

Like a ton of designs from that part of the world it's simply a blatant ripoff of a successful design. It's a damn Quattroporte with a nose job.

Audis on average have luxury frist, and sport second. BMW in my experience has been the opposite. Just depends on what you want.

I loved my audi but I will never buy another one. Transmission quit. If I ever get to a place where I lease a vehicle for fun though...

I just got an Audi S5 after driving different variants of the mercedes C class for the past 7 years and i absolutely love it. Mercedes is very luxurious, BMW is very sporty, but Audi seems to be the perfect blend of the 2. One thing that really turns me off about BMW are the interiors.
