My .45 holds 12, are they saying that it would fall under the assault weapon category?

Yep.

ETA: the key is to read their definitions. First the magazine is considered high capacity and makes you a felon. Second, how they define things such as grip is open to very loose interpretation. Very loose. It would be extremely easy to characterize the Glock as an assault weapon and in a trial, you know they'd aim to get the dumbest people in the jury box so they'd probably be able to convince them of just about anything.

For rifles, target rifles are listed as assault weapons. Target rifles are for competition and range activities. I believe GaTech has a marksmanship team, as do many high schools in GA, and many others I'm sure. They would be felons.

I believe "fixed" magazines refer to firearms with a bullet button. Could be wrong, but I thought that's how it went down in CA. Why define "fixed" vs "detachable" for the purposes of the legislation.

For the record I'm against this, but if push comes to shove I'll just buy a bunch of "clips" for my "assault" weapon.

Good thing I'm moving to South Carolina, where they still have Confederate holidays.

South Carolina has been the hold out on carry reciprocity for the rest of the south.

This bill is going nowhere, thankfully.

Uhh, I think an examination of their respective constituencies would reveal that this is unlikely.

A water gun can be used for assault. So can a raised hand. So can pointing a finger-gun at someone.

And it's a shame that retards can elect a legislator with a 90 IQ that has a modicum of power over me.

Do you realize how understaffed these guys are? Also realize that almost every sheriffs dept and national guard will side with the citizens in this case.

If your scenario does come true you will see a massive civil war in this nation and I'll tell you who will come out on top.

How many people have been killed by a 50 caliber weapon in the last...IDK, 50 years. This is the first step to a long road of gun grabbing IMHO>....

Never gonna pass. That is why it's so draconian. It's not meant to pass. This is a bunch of politicians pandering to their base saying, "I co- authored a bill to end all gun violence!" Politicians write stupid bills all the time that they know are going to be D.O.A. on the floor. This is just for a show.

The second the authorities start trying to confiscate guns nation wide, is the second we have ourselves another civil war.

Combine that with the fact that I'm doubtful that most of the military will actually turn on it's own citizens, it'll get really nasty.

Civil unrest will become commonplace and it's going to be a showdown between the people and their government.

Lot of people have analyzed this including surveys of military people. Many LE and military will not follow through with this, especially when it dawns on them that a large number of people know where they live and where their kids go to school etc. In some ways, they'll be in the worst position as they won't feel safe from either side I'm sure.
