Just because you're scared of big black things doesn't mean you should throw your common sense out the door. It is possible to write a legal definition for things.

My strikerfire pistol holds more than 10 rounds.
This is why people support the NRA and do not want to give a fricking inch. 16 round pistol magazines being considered high capacity is insane.

NO.
A few Georgia legislators have filed a bill in the Georgia legislature to do this. In much the same manner that some lawmakers introduce bills to make the Bible the "state book". It. Will. Never. Become. Law.

Yeah, this is a true effort at a gun-grab: no person shall possess...surrender to GBI
If it is passed, you'll have until July 1st 2016 to surrender your weapons.

Below is how they define assault weapon - criteria applies to pistols and shotguns too. Basically, you could interpret this to mean all firearms are assault weapons.
If this passes, I suspect a lot of people and business will be leaving Georgia.
I don't think this will be passed and if it is, I don't think it could ever survive a court challenge.

I see your point but this issue deserves a stronger response from citizens - just to suggest such an indiscriminate confiscation of property, without even a grandfathering or payment, and with the 2nd Amendment out there - this is bad. These are legislators.
They should be immediately recalled and booted out of office.

You know how this goes down right? They actually do go for a grab, society starts breaking down a bit as some citizens get rolled up, others hide everything, people wonder who they can trust, law enforcement personnel are told to do their job or go to jail themselves so they reluctantly do it.
And then you'll be standing around with your thumb up your arse. You'll try to act like the good citizen and do your rah rah cheer for gun grabbing thinking the police will see you as a good guy. All of a sudden you'll be the unarmed guy around a bunch of gun owners, and none of them trust you. Then Phred from Wild West Alaska shows up to secure your cooperation.
And immediately you'll wish you had a gun.

My .45 holds 12, are they saying that it would fall under the assault weapon category?

Why would the ATF get involved in state matters? Also, the ATF is way too small and overworked to do anything like that. Also, based on the atf people I've met, half of them would quit if asked to do that.

I have yet to meet a cop or serviceman who would go after any citizenry's arms.
Every one I've talked to say it's not gonna happen. It would be suicide. That's what they all say.
