Would it not make more sense to go to a state that allows such things to avoid this exact scenario?

Getting up and moving to a different state is not feasible for the majority of households across the US. Albeit it would most likely be for us.

Taking away his service dog pissed me off more than anything else.

It's possible they're nearly bankrupted from medical expenses for "legal" drugs that cost thousands but don't actually work so quitting their jobs and moving across country may not feasible.

Meanwhile in the Land of the Free it's illegal to possess a plant.

I’d be cool if they ignored the law.

They deliberately treated these people like fricking cartel drug dealers. This is insane.

They both give drugs to children so what’s the difference?

Legitimately I’d like to see their son evaluated by a doctor and if the MJ helped, then no charges.

Not gonna pretend I know the law in GA, but I have a feeling what they did merits more than a fine.

This is not the first story out of GA like this

It isn't for 99.9% of families, but if it is a matter of life or death for a child...

I am going to agree here 100%. Sounds to me like the Sheriff, the DA and the Judge probably all DGAF except now they have a complaint from some Social Worker and they are legally obligated to take action. So they tell them to stop and the parents openly refuse. Now they are all legally obligated to take action.

1. Mom needs to shut the frick up.
2. When the cops tell you “stop” you say “ok”
3. Now QUIETLY resume but don’t wave a fricking red flag in front of the police
