Quite the assumption based on little to no evidence to support it.
1) Dad admitted in a TV interview that he always tested it before giving it to the son
2) Medical professionals have never supervised this teens drug use, and its actual effects. In opposed to standard medication prescribed
3) Dad tested positive for MJ usage
That's quite a bit more than little or no evidence to base a conclusion on

Yeah Gabapentin every day, multiple times a day, is a much better choice

Literally none of that supports your opinion on the reason for the father's use.

you can't just not enforce the law for these parents and not expect consequences.
Of course you can. It’s done all the time.

So many law abiding citizens in this thread.

What about depakote, tegretol, topamax, keppra, etc. All very cheap
I have a niece who smokes pot for seizures but honestly I think she just likes smoking pot

Loud - they get a pass
Mid - probation
Reggie - bury they arse under jail

I take 1500mg of depakote and don’t experience any side effects

Honestly, if it were my child, I’d much prefer marijuana to any of those drugs.

I’m sure they’ve tried them. I don’t think they just jumped to pot after one medicine didn’t work.

Are you taking it for seizures or bipolar 1? Either way, depakote has some pretty bad side effects and not all people experience them in the same way or to the same degree. The side effects of marijuana use are substantially more minimal. Granted, the grey matter development concern is real, but seizures are a bitch.

Well, I would like to believe the parents, but after dad admitted that he always tested the MJ before giving it to his son, I cant take them at their word
Every other week there’s a new report of someone dying from fentanyl laced drugs.
Sounds like the parents are willing to do whatever is necessary to help and protect their son, even imprisonment and death.

This is the most absurd issue out there. This is something the “conservatives” who supposedly care about small government and liberty, should be out in front of.
My own mom had cancer. The meds sucked but she refused to try any sort of cannabis Bc she was legit worried about going to jail. How sick is it that an old woman suffering with cancer is afraid to try a nontoxic herb for fear of being arrested?

I wish the article said or why they gave up on them
There are studies showing weed isn’t good for developing brains
Don’t get me wrong, weed is awesome, but I don’t think it’s the answer for kids

You’ve missed my point. I read and comprehended that they had tried prescriptions. I simply pointed out that there are non smokable forms of marijuana that would be safer for an adolescent, and even suggested they may not have been able to access or afford them.
Edit. I want to understand how you misunderstood that I was implying he should have to stop treating with marijuana? My post:

A 15 year old smoking every day, possibly multiple times a day, indefinitely, is less than ideal. I wonder if they tried safer choices like edibles or prescription dronabinal first? There is a good chance this was the most affordable and available option where they live. If this story includes allll the facts of the situation, it is outrageous they are enduring this.
