I'm just curious which one is most popular among TD. Pros and cons to both. Both homes are around $550K but drastically different lifestyles
Gentrified NOLA home: LINK
Gentrified NOLA pros:
1) Interesting and "fun" city life
2) Great food
3) Professional sports
Gentrified NOLA cons:
1) Crime
2) Hurricanes
3) Corrupt government
Upper Middle Class Shreveport home: LINK
Shreveport pros:
1) More bang for buck
2) Far enough from hurricanes
3) Lower crime
Shreveport cons:
1) Less interesting city life
2) Bad airport
3) Far from LSU and professional sports

Pros: Shreveport won't be part of the Gulf of Mexico in 30 years. The nightlife doesn't compare but the OT is past the barhopping age anyway. If you pick the right attendance zone your kids can go to a decent public school. Traffic is much, much better. Airport doesn't compare on its own, but multiple daily flights to DFW, only a 30 minute hop.
Cons: corruption and crime on par with New Orleans. Lack of hurricanes is offset by tornadoes and ice storms. Too many Texans underfoot

Kids or planned kids or not…
Pretty much will make your decision for you..
Fwiw I grew up in bossier and know Shreveport.. lived in Nola out of college… I have retired and planned on moving back to Nola.. condo on st Charles..my wife’s family is old Nola..
Imo …..reconsider your options …I would not live in either of those locations.

Me neither. If he picks Shreveport he should do what everyone else does and buy in Bossier Parish.

I think you could include corrupt govt on both

Not much less crime in Shreveport tbh

New Orleans house easy

The NOLA house is not close to the FQ. And Broadmoor is notorious for flooding (and Latoya lives in Broadmoor). But why would anyone pick Shreveport?

I actually like Shreveport airport. It’s not nice but it’s easy.

Probably wouldn’t chose New Orleans but there is zero chance I’m going to Shreveport.
There ain’t shite there worth being there for

I couldn’t imagine paying $550k to live in either one of those shitholes.
