Aurthur Lee Allen had other people lick his stamps, but the police know who they are so if their dna shows up we know it's him.

Brilliant thinking. He could have just used water.

Told you dumbasses that giving anyone your DNA, especially these stupid sites was fricking stupid.

You really think 233 and me, or the other site doesn't keep that DNA, and possibly give it to the feds????

NEVER, ever, give your DNA to any, but the gullet of your wife/gfriend/sex friend

I don't believe the DNA testing sites are public, but there are sites like GEDmatch where you upload results from DNA tests and they build a database to match you to others.

The sixth grade teacher was found on her living room floor by her school’s principal after she did not come to work the following day.

How did the principal get in her house.. Was he hitting that?

Too late. The box has been opened and enough DNA is out there to track down blood relations.

How this isn’t flirting with a violation of the 4th amendment is beyond me.

You not submitting your DNA is a moot point when your relatives do. Which is what these recent cold cases are highlighting.

I haven’t really done anything to make me fear the feds having my DNA. But I also have an Amazon Echo in my bedroom, so I’m screwed all around.

All I’ve discovered from 23andme is that my great grandfather had a secret family in the late 1800s. One of his other great grandchildren contacted me.

I knew what I was giving them but I don't care. Military has it anyways, though they claim they won't use it for criminal investigations. I have little faith in what they say so this wasn't a big deal to me.

You'd be an idiot to do these tests. They don't toss the info. Wait till an insurance company gets ahold of the info.

You've given away your rights to that sample and/or info. How is this any different than the feds finding a picture of you killing someone on your cousin's Facebook or something?

No one in my family has done it. Maybe a third cousin but none of the really close. I'd be more wary of it being used by insurance, not worried about crimes.

Incorrect. You’re missing the point.

Person A gave up their rights which lead to the overextension of law enforcement toward Person B.

The people being apprehended aren’t submitting their DNA. The police are deducing the DNA matches by using other people’s DNA.

Because public pictures aren’t in the same arena as a person’s DNA. How is that hard to understand?

That would be like saying everyone is entitled to your SSN and routing number because your mom Upvoted a picture of Donald Trump on FaceBook.

Anybody else surprised there’s a professional DJ in Lancaster, PA where most of the town doesn’t even use electricity?

The worst part? WaPo is now doing clickbait/troll headlines. When I open my browser I get a bunch of randomly selected stories from various sources.

"Undercover cops grabbed a DJ's chewing gum. It helped crack a teacher's 1992 murder, police say."
