Living in the west, I have an irrational fear of this.

This is the typical cover up the weird death cause because the guy was well known and well liked scenario.
I’m not sure what really happened, but safe to say they definitely felt the pressure to come up with an official answer to what happened. This story sounds far-fetched to me, personally. And also conveniently avoids painting either of the victims in a negative or embarrassing light.

Authorities revealed Friday that actor Gene Hackman died of heart disease and showed severe signs of Alzheimer’s disease a full week after his wife died of hantavirus in their home.
Right.

I swear some of you people are so fricking retarded…what reason would they have to go through great lengths to cover up any foul play ?
The man was 95 years old with Alzheimer’s, it doesn’t really sound far fetched at all to see this scenario play out you mouth breather, not everything is a grand conspiracy
Anyway, if I I’m ever diagnosed with Alzheimer’s I’m finding a Dr. Kevorkian to take me out once it advances, truly don’t understand the reasoning we prolong their lives once they’re just basically the walking dead, I say this as someone who’s grandpa died of it.

The scary thing about hantavirus is that it is impossible to diagnose unless tested. Most docs are not gonna bother. They will just say "must be flu" and send you on your way. Even young and healthy people have a 30% chance of dying from it and there is no treatment.

Truth be told, my sisters and I "had a good time" at a restaurant after my mother passed away the day before.
She had a long battle with mobility, and declining health for a number of years that frankly had taken a toll on us. Especially my sister.
So, it was actually some emotions of great relief the days after my mother's passing.

Can you expound on this? What about this is “far-fetched?

What’s convenient about it? He was 95, what scenario around his death would be embarrassing?

I wonder if she had no symptoms until very suddenly?
That's hantavirus' M.O. It progresses like the flu for several days and then you have sudden respiratory collapse. Something like 35%-40% of the cases are fatal.

I don’t necessarily agree with this. He had a 65 year old wife watching him.

Every couple of years there is a hantavirus scare on the AT because of all the shelter mice.
