You will be paying for their subsidized housing and children’s free school lunches. That’s why.
Our society constantly supports freedom only one way.
They want the freedom to act any way they want, but they want the rest of society to support the failures of their actions via socialist measures.
I am all for freedom if, when you fail, either you receive zero support from the rest of society or you lose the freedom to make decisions when the rest of society has to support your poor decision making.
If we don’t have at least one of those two, I don’t support the freedom to perform certain actions.

frick me when your 18”, but that’s what gambling sites are doing from every angle
If your kid jsut innocently watches sport center now, they are constantly being pushed betting
Not even just the commercials, the programming itself
Heart disease is the No. 1 cause of death in the US. Obesity and high blood pressure are two of the biggest risk factors. Should restaurants be banned from advertising or having "bright colors" on their store front?

If society is subsidizing the poor decisions, a person’s freedom to choose should be limited.
If we want true freedom, we should have true freedom.
If not, then you cede control.

They’re mostly addicted and constantly advertised to. And the offers they advertise are enough to entice people to start gambling, then they get addicted. It’s not everyone, but a decent number of that generation are totally addicted

if it was up to me and they lost all their money gambling...i would let them starve
but i do not advocate for policy to restrict them from making choices, good or bad
but hey if you two want to be utter douche bags and point out the government somewhat forces me to protect them from their own choices.....go right ahead
right on point for the OT

How old are you Alt26?
Something I think we are, as a society, failing to consider is the effect this advertising and easy access will have on a kid that’s 16yrs old now… something we HAVE considered for other legal but age restricted activities, such as smoking.
Normalizing, incentivizing, and rewarding behavior that has the propensity to become “problem behavior” constantly to our youth will very likely have down the road consequences.

Aren’t they required to list calories next to dishes now? Or is that just fast food? I know they are required to have the nutritional information easily available and accessible.
Point being, yes, changes have been made at a policy level to address the issue that is obesity.

My son and I had an interesting conversation about this when I went to change my iPhone cover a couple of years ago… literally a fruit with a bite taken from it. It was a cool conversation to have with a 15yr old.

It is factual.
You support the system of freedom in only one direction.

so I should be restricted because certain people cant control themselves?
so do we apply that standard to everything? who gets to decide when that standard applies and when it doesnt?
