To be fair, the United States is becoming more Soviet than Russia.

Patton was wrong about this. We didn't want any part of the Russian army in 1945. And the the logistics heavily favored the Russians.

No, he wasn't and logistics were horrid for the Red Army. There is a reason the Soviet Army only moved in jumps, with months long stops along the way. They had to stop so they could be resupplied. They did not have the ability to supply their armies efficiently and they were at the end of a very long supply line in Germany.

Patton wasn’t a man, he was the reincarnation of God of War, Mars.
Of course, he was correct.

So is the life of a Soviet peasant worth less? Because the Bolsheviks killed more than 6 million of them.

We allied ourselves with western civilization. We helped them first and when the Nazis turned east the Russians and western civilization were thrown together because of the common enemy.

I always wanted to start and finish with the Japanese and let Germany go ahead and crush Russia. Then there's only one cockroach left and kill it. Anyway, I'm no FDR.

Uh,, Nope. They were down to sharing rifles, were starving and depended on what WE supplied them to even still be in the fight. Patton would have smashed them.

Patton would have had a mutiny on his hands, supported by the families back home. The army in Europe nearly did mutiny at plans to send them en masse to the Pacific. Having been told they were fighting to liberate Europe from Nazism, they weren't going to turn around and fight a former"ally" without extreme provocation. Patton understood the strategic picture, but he misunderstood, or chose to ignore, the social and political realuty.
bingo

Not to mention that russia had more troops in europe at that point iirc

No bastard ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making some other poor dumb bastard die for his country.

Kinda like when Gen McArthur wanted to push Red China back during the Korean War but the politicians who had investments in China said No?

Thoughts?

My father fought under Patton.

Patton was reprimanded for those words. My father loudly echoed Patton's words and voiced full support for the idea to those around him.

Like Patton, he was quickly called before his CO. He learned real quick that even the rank file were not to openly make such statements.

I heard this story many times in my lifetime.

The CO was very stern when he told him.

"Sergeant, if the Commander-in-Chief wants your opinions on foreign policy and military strategy concerning the Russians. He will come ask you. Is that clear, Sergeant?"

"Yes, sir. Very clear, sir."

"Good. You are dismissed."

My Dad said it was clear that the warning came from above his CO.

Just FYI:

$9,600,000,000 in 1945

Is worth

149,945,600,000 in todays dollars.

Except we didn’t declare war on Germany. Hitler declared war on the United States after Pearl Harbor on December 11th.

Make no mistake, Stalin had his own disgusting atrocities.

To be sure.

One word: HOLODOMOR

Holodomor,” a combination of the Ukrainian words for hunger (holod) and extermination (mor). “

Stalin starved at least 5 million men, women, and children including 4 million Ukrainians.

Holodomir

And then there is Lubyanka, headquarters of the KGB/FSB where up to 45 political prisoners were executed a night at the peak of Stalins Terror.

And Putin is Bad Bad man as well. He has many deaths on his hands as well.

But to be clear, Putin is not Stalin, and any attempt to tie the two together should be considered base propaganda meant to serve a motive other than the truth.

In my opinion, we find ourselves where we are today in regards to this conflict because of the deliberate actions of the Deep State NWO driven agenda that Democrat-led governments have taken with respect to Ukraine.

The innocent lives that have and will be lost rest on the Obama and Biden administrations. They kept pushing and pushing and pushing. fricking idiots.
