re: Gear up for a paradigm shift in physics: elementary particle weighs more that predicted.

Could be wrong but the way it works I believe the physicist use conservation of momentum and collide the unknown particle mass with a known particle mass. m1v1=m2v2. m1, v1 and v2 are known from doing the experiment and you solve for m2 after to determine the mass of the the W particle.
So it wasn't the mass they predicted and it skews the subatomic model. Oh well, need more money to figure it out.

Dumbass Aggie, probably had his finger on the scale.

What about the Z boson? How do these relate to Higgs Boson? Explain this to me like I'm 5.

Damn Aggies ran out of stars to recruit on earth....

Agies, so maybe non-binary?

Heisenberg says you got to take a peak under the leiderhosen to be sure.

They didn't predict the mass of the W boson correctly. Now they have to go back to the drawing board.

This 100% and love to see it. It's the pursuit of the truth that makes it fun.

I hope they didn't use a scale calibrated for a spherical earth. Amateurs.

The grand explanation physicists use to describe how the universe works may have some major new flaws to patch after a fundamental particle was found to have more mass than scientists thought.

Just an FYI here are the previous mass predictions of the W boson versus what was observed:
Also note the units for mass. It's either in MeV/c^2 or GeV/c^2.
Remember the famous equation E=mc^2? Well solve for m, m = E/c^2. E is in Mev or Gev (mega electron volts or giga electron volts) and c is the speed of light. Divide E by c squared and you get the mass of the particle.

Well damn. First we find out we no longer know the definition of what is a woman. Now it turns out we don’t even understand the fundamentals of nature. Mankind needs to get its shite together.

I tried telling that a-hole LSU physics 1001 professor he didn't know his arse from a hole in the ground when he gave me that F
