Why is it being allowed? It’s getting out of control. I counted 9 people out there this morning aggressively knocking on car windows. I can’t believe idiots keep giving them money.

If memory serves, they tried to pass a law against it and the mf'ing ACLU stepped in and threatened suit.

It's Slidell, what do you expect?

I made a pit stop at Hooters a couple of weeks ago and the amount of beggers was insane. Literally every light around I-10 had at least one person begging each direction.

If you're bothered by 9, I'd suggest staying out of downtown NOLA.

Up until several years ago there was virtually no panhandling problem in Slidell. I don't really understand what happened all of a sudden. Katrina obviously ruined Slidell forever but even for 10 years after the storm there wasn't a pandemic of hobos everywhere like there is now.

Somethings happened in BR the last few months. U rarely saw beggars on surface streets except maybe corporate/college area

Now every somewhat major intersection has them. Even jones creek/coursey

Last few weeks there’s even beena really attractive young blond girl at florida and 22nd

In BR the beggars are pros. I see guys wearing highlighter yellow safety vests as they navigate the car lines at the stop lights.

Damn... Makes me glad I don't live in the Dirty Dell anymore. Speaking of weird people in the streets of Slidell... anyone remember the Hat Lady?

Ah the good ole days of just having the "Hat Lady" sitting on the i-10 on ramp.

Amen to that. I live in Mid-City near Jesuit High and I can't go in any direction without running into multiple panhandlers at every major intersection making sure they cover every directional flow of traffic.

When I go to Costco I can easily count no less than a dozen of them between the intersections of Carrollton/Tulane, the light on Carrollton to enter Costco's lot and on the way out at Carrollton by the big drainage canal to head back home.

Head out Canal St. to the cemeteries and you'll easily find 3-4 on that corner alone.

I used to think downtown NOLA had a serious beggar problem and then I moved to downtown Houston.

This is why the problem keeps getting worse. More hobos realize they can make some decent money pandhandling at intersections...and non-homeless people who pretend to be hobos so people will give them money too.

The one that irks me is the AAU basketball team (look to be in the 15-18 year old range) thats panhandling at Manhattan and Lapalco at least 2-3 days a week. Coach is really teaching good work ethic...forget working on a fundraiser. Lets just stand at red lights and shake a bucket for handouts.

Dallas has had the same problem of a huge spike in people begging at lights. I heard around town in dallas that there are basically begging rings organized by "beggar pimps" that organize and place people at certain intersections to beg for money and then take a big cut out of what everyone else brings in. Pretty sad if thats true but cant put anything past shitty people anymore.
