Fires are much better. Not nearly as much smoke where I live and I am no longer having ash fall like snow when the wind kicks up. The Nantahala still has several interior fires burning badly. I don't know if you're familiar with the NOC but, they had fire burn across the road maybe 20 feet or so from The River's End restaurant.

ETA:

It's no place for young children and pregnant women right now if you don't have to be here.

To be clear though, he and the other arsonist mentioned in the story are not the ones who set this particular fire.

I meant to reply to another poster who mentioned some of them being caught. No, these two didn't start this fire, just some of the dozens of others intentionally set. I think I read a total of 7 have been caught so far, may be more now.

A family friend is there, and keeping us updated on Facebook. They were evacuated from their cabin a couple of hours ago, and now are trapped at Ober Gatlinburg.

I wouldn't want to be at Ober Gatlinburg if that mountain is on fire too.

On a side note, I didn't know Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge was so popular with people from LA. Living so close I never really thought about it.

That wasn't the intended evacuation location. That is as far as they got - roads are blocked with fire.

She just posted that the fire trucks that were there at Ober have left, saying they "should be all right."
