It's just a classic case of correlation not equaling causation.

How long do federal leases last for? I honestly don't know. What about when the existing plays dry up?

10 years typically. Federal lands represent only 13% of acrage and not all of it is unconventional.

This wouldn't be a terrible thing. In order to keep everyone happy, it should be around what? $2.60?

But ive heard someone say that gas would be over $5 the day after Joe Biden takes office.

As of 9 mins ago, the cheapest gas in Baton Rouge is at Costco for $1.85 a gallon.

Despite the bitching, Obama presided over a very lucrative O&G time period. Not trying to give him credit or blame, but it’s one of the many examples of the facts being far different than the common political narrative.

He was also much tougher on immigration than Trump was, but you know.. Perception is reality.

It's on new leases dipshit, Biden won't even be president by the time it would affect anything.

I know you aren't arguing otherwise but this is purely a function of circumstance. The shale industry basically was born during his presidency (not because of or in spite of him), and China GDP was still easily growing double digits, which made for a much more favorable backdrop.

The setup now is a bit different IMO and a little less complicated. Basically Biden, acting as the puppet he is, is shooting a small but significant part of the industry for no reason.

Lol I'm well aware what it is. You realize that these companies rely on having an inventory runway several years out, right? It's going to be a problem for a lot of them, and it will lead to production declining, assuming no material change in the macro environment. You're also assuming Kamala doesn't get reelected in 2024. I know you're trying to rationalize your Biden vote, but know that you voted for radicals who hate America.

Eta: also I'm not talking about current production, dipshit

I watched Biden speak today for the first time since the debates. That man won't last 2 years.

That O&G is a global industry, largely indifferent to US political policy, and, if anything, recent history would suggest Dems = good times while Reps = lean times.

I didn't support wholesale mail-in voting.

Yeah, because the only way for your guy to win was by voter suppression. When that failed, you all threw a tantrum like children .

Lucrative for those working in O&G or lucrative for the rest of us paying for gas at the pump?

If gas is .50 higher per gallon the average person will spend less than $400 extra dollars per year on gas. It’s not insignificant, but it’s not going to be a “lucrative” windfall for most if gas prices stay where they are. It’s much more psychological for some reason, likely because there are such wide fluctuations in price.
