why change over to summer blend? CA has the same weather almost all year round, just an excuse to jake up the prices...

I don't think California does the summer/winter blends.
Don't know their blends really though. Believe they go by a lower RVP all the time.

My data says you are wrong. Regardless, let’s just say you are correct and California is only third worst. If you are below the poverty line in America, do you think your dollar stretches further in California or Mississippi? Where would energy costs be better? Rent ? Home prices? Food cost ?

They definitely have a summer blend, according to the third sentence in the news article from the OP.

Ah, thought the reformulated stayed the same. Don't really know the gasoline/diesel blends, especially for CA.

Not even. You’re thinking of San Diego. Lol Coast has moderate weather.
Central Valley hits triple digits in Summer. And all that pollution from the coast blows into central valley. Awful pollution there in summer.
Gas prices hit almost $5 there several years ago but it’s usually about $1/gallon more than other states.
I miss that place.

Along with the federal gas tax of 18.4 cents, Californians now pay 58.2 cents in excise taxes per gallon. Like all other states with sales taxes, California “taxes the tax” by applying the combined local and state sales tax, which ranges from 7.25 to 9.75 percent, on top of the gasoline tax.

Yeah, my fault. Went to look it up and saw they changed the regulation back in 2012 to use two blends rather than 'summer' year round. Surprised they relaxed the regulations.
