Explain how a defense attorney can disprove
Manslaughter
Sure.
If the DA wants to make a deal.
This is a case where the defense has to approach the DA with a deal.
Nothing is in the defense's favor right now.
Which means at least 15-30.

What if the black guy was being aggressive towards Ward? Like I said, I haven't seen the video

So where is he now? Did he turn himself in yet?

Who's got the case? What's the fee likely to be? Flat fee? Flat if resolved before trial? How's that work in N.O.
Probably a flat fee around $15k if I had to guess. Some lawyers are way more expensive. Unglesby would charge $50k minimum, and probably closer to $100k.

Thanks for the reply. The pricing decision was my curiosity.
I would have thought 15k was low. Reasonable in fact, but I would have thought people would have tried to get more from someone facing such a serious charge.
For point of reference, I knew a guy who was popped buying ~ 100 lbs of weed from a guy who had turned informant complete with video and audio. A well known Alexandria attorney charged him 50k. That seemed high to me considering he wasn't going to trial.
For people who don't like attorneys, I heard a story of a reasonably well know B.R. attorney charging a cocaine defendant 30k and laughing about how little work he was going to have to do on the case.
I don't begrudge anyone running their business how they choose, nobody is forcing anyone to hire anyone in particular.

He turned himself in and posted bail. Case is before Robin Pittman.

Interesting choice if true. Solid attorney no doubt but he's more of a white collar/federal court kind of guy. Not sure how connected he is in the OP.

It's the prosecutions burden to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt, not the other way around

That's what he does now but in the past he has done a lot of high profile criminal defense work, including death penalty cases. He even represented one of the kids in rhe DKE hazing incident, although he was a friend of the parents and did it as a favor to them.
