I double checked and the commercial surety bond portion was $822,000. So the bounty hunter would be looking at an $82k-164k payday for bringing him it. That buys a lot of dog food and bear spray.

Well, I'm not Garrett Ward, so I don't know his family dynamic or personal situation.
I also don't know his intelligence level or survival abilities.
My dad is an old school badass who would say frick this house, get the hell out of the country. He wouldn't lose a second of sleep over it and neither would I.
I have no doubt in my mind that I could disappear and never be found, especially if I had 4 years to plan it.
He killed the guy in 2018. It's not like he had to leave with just the shirt on his back.
You people are way over-estimating the abilities of some bounty hunter. The world is a big place.

you're also probably way underestimating the ease to flee the country or completely disappear, more would do it if it were that simple.

Ding ding ding. It would be on CNN tonight if that were to occur. I’m surprised it hasn’t made national news yet. It’s not everyday that a white man beats a black man to death. This is right up the MSM alley.
I know a white guy that beat a another white guy to death. He got 30 days jail and 5 years probation. Road rage incident.
The racial aspect is what’s eating Garrets lunch here.

I haven't followed the case, but people get killed everyday and their killers get drastically difference sentences for all kinds of varied reasons.
To pretend that external influences like media, race, publicity, etc., don't factor in is naive.
