I think it’s similar right? A supervisor who has responsibility did something negligent that resulted in an employee taking a life. Please provide a better analogy and we will discuss that.

I'd just tweak yours to the supervisor handing the worker a can with a koozie on it, telling him it's nonalcoholic beer, and the worker just chugging without looking at the can to make sure.

Ok , I’ll take the criticism, I’m clearly not a professional analogist. That’s what they should call gay porn actors but I digress…

So use your better analogy and discuss the larger point. The various degrees of moral, civil and criminal culpability that each has . That’s worthy of discussion. No need to just shut it down because you are a progressive.

I don't think Baldwin shouldn't be punished, but he was handed a gun that he was told was unloaded, and to get to that point the gun had to go through the hands of multiple people who are paid to be gun safety experts.

The first time I ever went to a firing range, I had to watch a 3 minute safety video. I did not finish that video and consider myself an expert. I trusted the experienced gun owner I was with to monitor and help me. Baldwin had such people, who are paid for that service, around him. It is his job and it should not be his job to be a gun expert. They failed and Baldwin didn't think to double check, so he failed too.

This thread is fukking stupid, and very few people in these 9 pages transcend that stupidity.

My daughter worked in the industry for two years.

How about you?

There were ample red flags prior to the shooting that Baldwin ignored.

Baldwin fired the gun during a rehearsal, according to affidavits.

So, can someone that has acting experience tell me why he would purposely fire a blank or any other round during a rehearsal? Seems to me a shot would not be needed until the actual scene is being filmed.

The same people who weren't qualified, and worked for him.

The same people who previously had issues with live rounds in firearms.

It's amazing how the political leanings of certain people make others as irrational as they claim those people to be.

You would be called dumb.

You've never been to a gun store at all, if so, you would know the very first thing you do is check to see if its loaded.

The thing you never do, is point it at anyone, loaded or not. Which...is standard in the movie industry.

Youre defending a guy who broke numerous protocols, hired someone who wasnt' qualified, and had previous live rounds in prop guns.

If you own a school bus company, and the brake fluid guy keeps forgetting to put brake fluid in vehicles. You have a track record of this

You have an accident and a kid dies. Are you not somewhat responsible?

This is a dumb take. Alec is responsible for her death not from pulling the trigger but from being the guy in charge that’s supposed to ensure that the protocols are followed so this doesn’t happen. He just happens to be the same guy

ETA I hate Alec Baldwin. I’d be saying the same thing if it happened to Keanu and everyone else on this board would be too

It is a movie set not a hunting camp, what mayb be standard gun safety in the real world does not apply here. A actor may be holding a gun for the first time only minutes before the filming starts, and likely does not even know how to check the chamber. That is why there should have been a armorer or properly trained prop master in control of the firearms which obviously didn’t happen here.

You don't seem to be bothered by negligence. Probably due to political reasoning.

My kids are regulars on a television show and the last episode of the series they filmed there was a gun in the final scene. I was given the gun and told to inspect it prior to the scene, after I looked it over, checked chambers, etc it was passed to others in the scene on set to check as well. Clearly protocols were not followed, or everyone was just lazy.

So the takeaway from all this is that if I did want to kill someone with a gun, all I would have to do is make sure they are on the set of a movie that im a cast member of. Then I can blame the "armorer". Karma is taking a huge bite out of this human garbage.

Several fanboys are downvoting this to hell throughout the thread.

Its not even debatable. Baldwin made mistakes.

Hell no. Actors dont get a pass with inherently dangerous items just bc they are actors. What kind of arse backwards logic is that? Oh he's an actor so he doesn't have to use common sense. Gtfo.

You forget things, like the weight in the hand of a gun that's loaded and one that's not.

This was stupid when it was posted at the beginning of the thread and it’s stupid now.
