It's completely fricked up.

What makes a state ID-license standard compliant?

I think with LA it's about the number of holograms. Last time this came up I looked and you need 3 holograms on the ID but we only have 2.

It has been over a year since I read that, but I think that's the reason. I could be wrong though.

ID is not required anyways to go through a TSA security checkpoint so I never understood this issue anyways if it were to come to pass.

No. No they don't
I don't know if most do or don't, but everyone in my immediate family does and I'm pretty sure all of my friends do. I know for a fact all of my coworkers do.

Regardless, it's not hard nor expensive to get one. Jesus, people act like getting a passport is some huge hoop to jump through. And it's a damned good document to have around.

Kind of like having a valid ID to vote?

Valid ID to vote is even easier. Not sure what your point is in relation to replying to me.

This was true in 2006 when I lost my ID while out of state. Not sure if it is still the case.

So LA changed their drivers licenses (which look god awful BTW) and they still don't meet the Real ID requirements?

My wife (no pics) recently received her renewal in the mail with the new shitty looking license. Lucky for me mine is good through 2018.

We are one or four states who aren't compliant.

It's more like 20, just 4 haven't filed for extensions to get compliant.

Considering one of those 4 states is New York, I think this whole thread is a waste of time.

It's just that you brought up the exact same things that people were saying about having an ID to vote... but the libtards were up in arms about how it was unfair to poor people who couldn't afford an ID.

Settle down. I wasn't attacking you.

DHS has postponed implementation of this several times.

The remedy is buy the $30 passport card that is valid for 10 years. It's valid for domestic flights

it's a hunned and fiddy frickin bucks. And you have to jump thru hoops to get one. That's a lot of time wasted and money spent for adults that have no plans on traveling out of the states.
