From LA? If you want to fly come January, better bring your passport

Ten years ago, Congress passed the REAL ID Act, which set minimum security standards for state-issued driver’s licenses and photo IDs, but it wasn’t until the end of 2013 that the Dept. of Homeland Security announced the phase-in of its enforcement plan.
If state IDs fail to comply with those standards, federal agencies can’t accept them as standalone proof of identification. The final phase of the DHS plan is access to commercial aircraft. According to the agency’s own timeline, full enforcement is due to begin “No sooner than 2016.”
Some federal buildings will be denying access to their buildings coming Oct/Nov.
Thanks Bobby Jin
No seriously. Our state tried to pass a law making the state compliant with the real ID act and Bobby vetoed it.

This wont happen.
It would be chaos.
It would be chaos.

We are one or four states who aren't compliant.

This will stop the terrorists for sure!!!!
Thank God. I've been living in constant fear. And our federal government does such a wonderful job when put in charge of things like this.
We've had so many terrorist attacks since 911 thanks to fake state IDs. It's now nearly impossible to take fake a passport because they're so perfect.
Thank you fed government. Thank you Jindal. Keep us safe from the Phantom ghost man in our adult conscious closets. Keep us complacent and focused on nothing. As long as you never solve a real problem, there will still be plenty of problems for you to bitch about and blame on the other side of the aisle.

This has been an issue in the legislature for a while now. And the rhetoric has been just asinine

This garbage has been going on for years. You'll still be able to fly with your regular ID.

Don't most adults have passports?
Don't really see how this is the massive issue people make it out to be, but do think its stupid we don't just get in line with the id tweaks.
Sure the State would make everyone pay to get a new id and use it as a fundraiser anyway.

I've seen this thread since 2012, maybe before. It might finally be coming to pass, but I doubt it.

Keeping folks from LA and NY from flying to FL is good news IMO. Good job Bobby.

Why because you don't want us getting our out of state hands on your flakka supply?
Posted on 9/15/15 at 8:11 am to steeltiger17
All this shite we've had forced on us since 9/11 at an ungodly cost.
And all this to track probably less that 100 terrorists in the world with the resources to do much of anything.
The Feds are insane and trying to scare/control us to death. Enough already!

Another turd that he leaves on the doorstep of the next governor. His entire working life has been spent getting out in the nick of time before the shite hits the fan.

I have no idea what flakka. Therefore your accusation is baseless and libelous. You'll be hearing from my e-attorney soon.

pretty easy to just grab your passport

quote:No shite, Jindal should have gone one step further and implanted RFID chips in all Louisiana state residents. Then the fed would really know who we are and where we are at all times.

I can't go into national labs for experiments anymore without my passport. I was worried about getting into the NIH last week with my ID but it worked. If this applies to flying people are gonna flip their shite
Posted on 9/15/15 at 8:31 am to steeltiger17
ID? Federal ID? Clearly an attempt by the Feds to prevent poor people from traveling
Posted on 9/15/15 at 8:44 am to steeltiger17
So let me get this straight. It's important that everyone have a certain type of ID to enter federal buildings and fly... but it's unconstitutional to require people to have IDs to vote?
