Yesterday my 76 year old mother was served with papers from a fender bender dating back to January 2018. Ol bird was turning left on a green and a small Kia darted out from a parking lot and hit her broadside in the intersection. Mom got the ticket even after arguing the highway traffic lane was clear before the girl floored it out the the driveway.

At the time, there were no injuries. No ambulance or Fire/EMT. Suit alleged great negligence and willful disregard for life and safety. Driver had experinced "mental anguish, fear of driving, pain and suffering, lost wages and medical expenses". Suing for a stated compensation of no less than 200k not to exceed 1 million.

What a world we live in, eh guys? If anyone is needing a quick score, just toodle around looking for a mark to plow into. Pick a nice vehicle who has insurance that may or may not even be committing a traffic offense.

And then you have my wife's uncle who was run down and killed on his motorcycle by a trailer trash whore without insurance and zero assets to sue for.

No justice, no peas.

For the price it would cost to fight this in court you could easily hire a hit man.

I was riding with a girl back in college. old pick up in front of us slammed on their brakes to a dead stop on a 55mph state hwy. All because their was a dead kitten in the road. like it had been run over numerous times, dead. We hit the trailer hitch/ball on this ladies truck. All it caused on the front bumper of a nissan maxima was a 1.5" scratch in the paint.

She needed an ambulance, got lawyers, harassed the girls family and eventually got $75k from the insurance company.

People are shitty....

30 years ago my mom opened her door up into a cyclist.

Total medical bills and lost wages were 8k. Jury awarded 100k.

I wonder why rates are shite in New Orleans.

You aren't helping your case that there were no injuries when a car going 55mph rear ends another vehicle unexpectedly.

I know it sucks. But you aren't making a very good argument.

I had a buddy get smashed by a FedEx truck and he got nowhere near this.

Too bad he didn't get hit in Louisiana.

frick the lawsuit, but if they determined your mom was at fault then maybe she wasn't paying 100% attention? 76 year olds aren't exactly renowned for their attentive driving.

I was in the tiniest fender bender in history but “victim” still got a 6 figure settlement. 100 percent convinced the lawyers on both sides were in cahoots. Freaking ridiculous

I personally got video of the “victim” doing all kinds of yoga and shite she said she couldn’t do. My attorney acted like it was great stuff but never showed it to other side. Just signed that fat check.
