Friendly reminder: Make sure you know when your driver's license expires

I didn't, and it ruined my night.
Last night I met at the bar with some of my boys for some beer and appetizers. Headed back home that night, I pulled into a gas station to fill up. As soon as I pulled in, those blue lights lit up in my rear view.
Apparently the cop pulled me over cuz when I pulled into gas station, I didn't use my blinker. (I thought that was a bs reason, but whatever). He asked for my license, so I handed it to him. While he goes back to do whatever, he asks me to step out of the car. At this point, I thought nothing of it, but maybe I had a tail light out that he wanted to point out to me.
Cop asked me if I knew my license was expired. I had no idea. Apparently it expired 2 weeks ago, on my birthday. Ftr I haven't looked at my expiration date in years I feel like. That was not something that was in my radar in the least bit. So at this point, the cop states driving without a license is illegal, and he has the right to take me to jail. So at this point he starts patting me down, forced me against my own car. Did the first sentence of the Miranda, He puts one cuff on my hand, at which point he goes "I'm just fricking with you man, I'm not gonna take you to jail for that. I saw you have a completely clean record so I wanted to see how you'd react. You're free to go, no ticket or anything. Just take care of that license asap."
So yea, outside of my good friends who work as law enforcement. I feel like I hate cops now. But lesson learned now, I guess.

A PSA on renewing licenses should always include renewing your concealed carry. That is one you don’t want to lapse without knowing.

I don’t believe any part of that except that you are an a-hole who doesn’t use your turn signals. And maybe that you have an expired driver’s license.
