I have this friend who swears he can make a AAA baseball team like the Zephyrs, i mean Baby Cakes. This guy did not even play baseball in highschool. He's just going off the fact that he can hit a cabbage ball far. FWIW we played cabbage ball in middle school! 5'8 155. I said hes crazy, and that there is no way he can just step in and hit 85 mph pitching at that level. He wants to try out for a baseball team. What does OT say.?

Your friend couldn't get a roster spot in the sugar cane league.

typical eye can't even process that in time to get a bat around on it. That's why hitting a baseball is one of the most difficult things in sports to do.

I love the 3 down votes. Obviously done by individuals who have hit several 95 mph baseballs.

Fastest I’ve ever seen was Jeremy Bleich (sp?) from Newman in high school... lefty that would throw 92-95. I ran my mouth to him pregame one time because he was a prick, not knowing who he was and my first AB he drilled me between my shoulder blades .. lesson learned

He went on to play for Stanford and played some minor league ball too, not sure how his career turned out

Let him try out and make a fool of himself. Sometimes it's the only way.

This. You go to the tryouts with a camera, video it, then come back and post said friend's tryout on TD.

Fastest I ever faced was about 94, & I laid a bunt down on the pitcher. By "laid a bunt down" I mean stuck my bat out & prayed. I have no clue how people consistently HIT, much less bunt, at those speeds

Some of the best college players never make it out of AAA. Sounds like your friend is a moron.

Hell, Raph Rhymes never made it past high A and in 2012 he lead college baseball in hitting and set an LSU record for batting average with an average of .431

Was over .500 3/4 of the way thru the season. Against SEC pitching. As a full-time player.

Your friend is stupid. I would probably pee myself watching him try to hit a breaking ball.

Head over to The Louisville Slugger Museum in Kentucky. They have a pitching machine set about 95mph. You can barely blink before the ball is past you.

Get him to try out. Then laugh at his dumb arse when he looks foolish for trying out.

90 mph = 132 feet per second.
Pitchers mound ~ 60 feet from home plate.

Reaction time ~ 0.45 s
