Oh, and btw...AAA players shuffle back and forth between their club and the Majors all season. So what your friend is essentially claiming is that he could play in the big leagues based on his cabbage ball experience.

How fast can he run? He can always try to sneak into tryouts and impress them with his blazing speed when the guards move his sleeping rack into the parking lot overnight. He can even hit like shite and make the team.
It worked like that for Willie Mays Hayes.

He's not fast. No fielding experience either. Just hitting...

The best SEC baseball team would be trumped by an A team. You need smarter friends.

Can't help but watch that movie at the start of baseball season.

I played one year for a D2 school in college, and was a grad assistant for a small school D1 program. I would catch bullpens everyday at practice, and the best kid I ever caught could hit mid-90s and had a slider that broke off the table, and he couldnt make it past AA. I couldnt hit that, and I would like to think I have more skill with the bat than some guy sitting on the couch.

That's like thinking he can dunk on a regulation goal because he can dunk on an six foot goal. Those baseballs would look like BB's to him.

He's a moron. Hitting straight speed 85 mph isn't hard, but the people who only pitch straight 85 with no movement don't get to AAA.

That seems like something my psycho ex would do.

Tried to hit a pitch from a JUCO pitcher from our church. Ended up looking like I had Parkinsons

Does he realize AAA baseball isn't cabbage ball?
That's like saying "I think I can make the NBA G league. On an 8' goal I can crush the rim. You should see me play with these middle school kids at the park".

Hell he probably couldnt hack it in the 35+ red stick league much rest the regular red stick league or pro ball of any level
People say they could go out and play soccer with no actual experience, as well.
I've always told them to go sign up for the local adult rec league and go wreck shop.
So far, haven't had any takers.

Bring him to a batting cage and let him see 85. If he cannot even make contact every pitch, laugh his arse out the cage. This is just pure anecdote, but will prove a point.

There's some players out there, but it's still independent ball. Not like they're all Toe Nashs waiting to be found.
Enough former college, milb and AAAA out there to make the softball warriors feel silly.

I said hes crazy, and that there is no way he can just step in and hit 85 mph pitching at that level.
it's going to be a lot faster than that....and hitting a fastball won't be the problem. he isn't hitting those sliders and curveballs.

Thought I signed up for over-30 indoor soccer. There was no such thing. I had to bring my inhaler for the second game.
I went from a forward 15 years ago to wanting to play back the rest of the season.
My best position for any sport is couch.
