Lol about me trying to threaten legal recourse against the dealership if I paid $5000 more than I should have for a vehicle.

Can you post his email? I know a guy in Nigeria who has been awarded an estate, but needs to dish off about $10 million of it out of the country to avoid some taxes. I think he's the perfect candidate to help him out.

If he had paperwork signed by the dealership and himself, he should not have done that. I'm for some reason cringing in anger right now that some random person known by some other random person on a message board allowed themselves to get screwed over. Unless I had a judge telling me I had to, I ain't doing shite.

They need to do it quick because your friend doesn't have walking around sense.

I would have given it back then the next day I would have walked into their used lot and got ot back for a used car price at probably $10,000 off msrp.

Did this guy end up paying TT&L twice? I'm about to call him and demand 5k for emotional damages if so.

Apparently the truck was a special order by someone else, who backed out on it.

Usually you put a 10% deposit on a special order, so I assume previous guy paid 5k up front. They probably sold it to my friend for remaining balance then realized they could have sold it for full new price and tried to frick him.

Yeah, that was dumb. Imagine contacting a dealer and telling them after you signed papers you were confused and will be paying them $5k less than what you signed for. They would laugh in your face.

Seriously...If he has a signed agreement with the amount on it, then they are out of luck. They wasted a bunch of his time because of a mistake they made. I'd respond to them that they are welcome to talk to my attorney if they like. If they do contact my attorney, I'd threaten to take the story to local media outlets and social media and let them know that the damage to their reputation will be far more than $5K after the public knows what scumbags they are being.

I have heard stories very similar to this many times in the last few years. I wouldn't fall for it. They signed also. No way they'd play the same game if they had "accidentally" taken too much money from you.

Sounds like they need to learn a lesson the hard way.

In this situation its not even necessary to get an attorney involved. If in Louisiana, call the Motor Vehicle Dealers Commission. They will send an investigator out. My dad had a friend who was the investigator and this is the type of stuff he dealt with.

Because he is a hot head and let his anger overrun commen sense.

It was basically a "frick y'all y'all can have the damn truck" thinking he was sticking it to em but in reality they won.

Threatened legal recourse if he didn't pay it

It will cost the dealer way more than 5,000 to go after your friend. This is merely a scare tactic by them to fix their frick up.

Your friend should tell them to eat a bag of dicks and hang up the phone.
