Friend bought new truck, dealer reneged on sale price

A friend bought a new F150, drove it for 2 months. Papers were signed. Dealership called him and told him they messed up on the paperwork and that owes them 5,000 dollars more on the total cost of the truck. Threatened legal recourse if he didn't pay it

Apparently the truck was a special order by someone else, who backed out on it.
Usually you put a 10% deposit on a special order, so I assume previous guy paid 5k up front. They probably sold it to my friend for remaining balance then realized they could have sold it for full new price and tried to frick him.
He gave the truck back told them to find a truck equal to his trade in and give it to him. Which IMO was stupid I would have told them to piss off and kept driving the new one

I'd bet a dollar the salesman and sale manager participated in some frickery to boost sales then got caught. Trying to strong-arm you into paying their restitution.
