I’m telling you Sunday/Monday this week was the closest I’ve felt since I’ve been here. Again I’m not saying it’s constant and Louisiana is still worse by far, but it was fricking awful.

Can confirm. I’d be surprised if the Dodge, Liberal, Garden area as a whole wasn’t majority Hispanic. Or close anyway.

Well if that’s the case then I love culture-less places!

While true for a lot of the state that isn’t necessarily the case for Wichita. Still a pretty rough city in some parts (like the humidity, not Louisiana bad, but still) and no sense of anything unique or interesting about the culture/atmosphere of the area.

That’s why I said at times it can be humid “like now” in my previous post.

But nothing like the constant humidity of Houston and south Louisiana.

And I’ve lived in both for multiple years at a time.

The wind hasn’t stopped blowing yet this summer. Today is the first “hot” day but we’ll cool off back towards the 70s after this weekend.

Yep. No crime in rural, white America. It's not like pills and meth have taken over in those kinda places. It's all Andy Griffiths or Wallys and Beavers.

The homicide and carjacking is dramatically less, and you're not cramped like rats.

Seems like a win/win.

When I worked for Koch I lived in Wichita for a bit. I agree it is arse my dude. I think I did everything there was to do within a month. Then I was just there. Glad it wasn't for too long.

Yeah, I live in Wichita and absolutely love it here. Low crime, people are mostly decent, cost of living is low. Yeah there isn't much to do here as far as in the city but who needs that shite? I grew up outside of town, I have plenty of private fishing and hunting spots. Kansas is a great state to live if you value what it has to offer.

Do you have any idea how many people would appreciate "the people are good"?
It's something they learned from their parents and community.
It's something you should appreciate.

The weather is outside; it's what's inside that counts.

If you want atmosphere and culture you should move to New Orleans.

I think I would prefer a parking lot full of flat beds and tractors.

I’m joking mainly as outlined by the last sentence. The weather is really my only gripe about being here. Yea there’s not necessarily a ton to do but I’m old enough now that it doesn’t matter.
