Most freshmen don't "do it anyway." Those who do are in need of better parenting.

I can only think that this logic was generated by a set of spineless parents who had a great desire to be good friends with their children. It makes no sense at all.

If it is indeed good logic, let's extend it to their having sex. We know they're all going to try to have sex, so perhaps we should just let them do it in our home and supervise it!!
At that age they are prepared for neither of these activities. And all the supervision in the world doesn't make things right or better.

It's the only way the non-teacher women can get their hands on high schools boys.

Stupid.

But if you do it, you better take their cell phones away.

Definitely trashy but also unsafe.

Extremely trashy, and I would question any adult that willingly purchases kids' alcohols.

Trashy and would likely get the parents arrested.

In most cases, the parents are doing it out of an odd desire to be the “cool parents”.

It’s not really about educating kids on how to drink responsibly and safely.

I saw this with my own eyes on new years.

Trashy AF.

I got that by it being a party with kids. If an adult chooses to have a beer with their own kid, under the right circumstances, I have zero issues with it. Involving other children and/or creating a party type atmosphere where binge drinking is encouraged is insane to me.

I was drinking as a freshman as were most of my peers. TJ's, Bruno's etc were like a high school meetup back in the early 90's.

Did my parents know? Probably

Would they have sponsored drinking parties at their house? Hell, no. What a stupid liability to undertake.

Trashy. It was always trashy, but kids didn't have cell phones and social media.

Now it seems like a guaranteed lawsuit and jailtime.

Well, at least they aren't driving? Ohhhh...fergot about statutory rapey stuff or personal injury stuff.

They just ingrained it into us that we could call them anytime day or night if someone was too drunk to drive, no questions asked.

This is something that happens at like 16-20, not 13 or 14

All these kids are having their parents help them through life. They need to get out and figure stuff out on their own

I was 14 as a freshman. You could get your driver's license at 15 back then. We had many friends with their license and their own cars at 15.

My kids? Yeah maybe.

Anyone else’s? Hell no. I don’t need those kinds of problems.
