How much do you think this is costing the taxpayers?

Seems like an abuse of the justice system to me. Frick him for effectivelynstealing from the town but a felony? This will cost taxpayers way, way more. Degree of punishment doesn’t seem to fit the crime at all.

My thought exactly.

This better be some sort of deal where the chief thought the guy going after him was bluffing and that this is just the tip of the iceberg.

I have used various fleet cards for decades and don't buy for a minute that he mixed it up with his personal credit card. When you use fleet cards, there is always some kind of ritual of entering mileage, pin numbers, etc. that would make it very difficult to mix up with your personal card.

I also think that charging him with a felony is a bunch of BS...not necessary to ruin the guy's life over such a thing.

I would agree that for a normal state run by normal people this would be Overkill but in a state as crooked as Louisiana run by people as crooked as louisianians if we don't set an example then we're just going to continue to all eat the same shite sandwich over and over again for all of eternity.

Residents of Louisiana can't afford to let the little shite slip by because people in power here don't know when to stop. Give them the pinky they take the hand.

While it might sound ridiculous, considering how long he has been sheriff I'd be willing to bet he has made this same "mistake" many times.

ETA- police chief not sheriff. Sorry.

It is something you don’t do.

I just have that old school mentality that in a position of authority you protect and serve the public that elects or appoints you.

You have to hold yourself to a higher level of accountability.

I guess I am old fashion or way too stubborn to think that no matter what you do stop before you do it.
