Well, that puts the eye directly over my house...

GFS seems to be especially bullish at 950 mb (strong cat 3) at landfall. Any of the experts know why the GFS has it so strong?

Forgive my ignorance, but does the number before Z correspond to the hour of the day?
Such as 0=midnight
15=3 PM
21=9 PM etc.?

Say what? Every model is pretty much in agreement so where are the mixed results?

Where do you see THAT? I don't believe I've seen 950 on any of the models throughout this entire "event".

For the poster above you, the NHC updated the forecast to central LA but I too am a bit confused because overnight model runs came in with mixed results. Some moved east, some moved west. Not but a lot, but there was definite westward movement with some and definite eastward movement with some. From what I read everywhere and as always, once an official center develops it looks like the forecast will be rather certain from that point forward. Right now it's anyone's guess.

I don't know, keep us out of the title game at least a few times over the last two decades.

0z = midnight in Zulu land = 7PM for Central Daylight time
12z = noon in Zulu land = 7 AM for CDT

Houston news kept saying that Beryl would be a tropical storm by the time it got to us. Then Bam! Full on Cat 1!

That was some old man from West Virginia and a bunch of college kids from California and Texas and even Louisiana that did that.
