Hurricane Prayer

Lord, as I sit, with my power and AC,
It looks like a hurricane's coming for me,
And it's selfish and childish, believe me I know,
But these bad winds will come, and these cruel winds will blow,
Now I've been through bad ones, I've been through an eye,
Seen trees into houses and sheds, how they fly,
I want no one to suffer, and none to despair,
But we do, so I utter, this hurricane prayer,

Over where this storm goes, I have zero control,
But I pray that it sends to God nary a soul,
Now we all will lose power, be it now, be it later,
And I hope that y'all have you a good generator,
Because all of them freezers, full of deer, pig and duck,
If the power goes down you'll be soon out of luck,
If your AC goes out, better plead for cool air,
In the summer? Lord please hear my hurricane prayer,

Yeah it's sure coming north, moving west? moving east?
Politicians and weathermen lie, at the least,
Now Somebody will suffer, our sisters and brothers,
But we're kin to all men, so let's help out the others,
And once the storm's gone, who cares where the eye passes,
Let's get out of our houses and off of our asses,
And wherever there's need, let's be generous there,
Let's let our better angels, answer hurricane prayers.

amen

Edited to add:

This is me acknowledging your response below with gratitude while being mindful of my current post count.

Cheers,
North Dallas Tiger

P.S. - I don't care about post count, either, brethren; I wanted it to be this exact number.

I've lived in south Louisiana All my life. Seen many a storm. Some names I remember, some I forget. But no matter the name, no matter your prayer that it goes east or goes west, some poor sumbitch to the east or west of you is praying the same damn thing.

What matters is, when it blows through, like they always do, is that we do what we can to help those who didn't luck out. Who have their lives in a heap.

Because in the long haul it's gonna happen to us all. It's in these times where we see our true colors, where if we won the hurricane lottery and aren't in a bind, we find those that are and help how we can.

Because baw, we're all in the same boat, and you don't stop bailing because the hole ain't on your end.

You think I care about post count?

A baw is a baw. We all are just trying to make it.

The pumps handle an inch in the first hour and a half inch every hour after that. 6-7 inches probably fell in 2-3 hours, so it's definitely a pumping capacity issue. I guess there could be power issues too.

Reading a lot of the shite on Facebook people are acting like the mayor in Kenner took the hamster off the wheel. I don't think people understand how much rain the area got in a relatively short amount of time.

Had a few flashes, but luckily never lost power. Counting it as a win with a 4.5 month old.

Southeast corner of Baton Rouge off Nicholson checking in - never lost power, thankfully. All seems good here. Phew!! Prayers for those not so fortunate.

It looks to have missed us aside from some light rain. The track shift took it a good bit east of us. The track yesterday afternoon had it going right over us.
