Are we entering the time where we start to see smaller alternating east-west shifts each update until it comes in for the final run?

We refer to those as H moves on TD baw.

Hopefully they can get it all picked up before then. If not, it is going to be a mess.

Good decision to wait 4 years and bring it down in the height of Hurricane season. I love Louisiana and insurance companies

Given the low vertical wind shear, ample moisture, and very warm sea-surface temperatures, a faster rate of intensification is shown over the next 36 h, and Francine is now forecast to become a hurricane tonight or tomorrow morning, and a Category 2 hurricane by Wednesday. In the final 12-18 h before landfall, shear is expected to increase markedly, which will likely halt the intensification, though Francine is expected to be a Category 2 hurricane at landfall. Rapid weakening is expected after the system moves inland. The NHC intensity forecast is on the upper-end of the overall intensity guidance, but still is lower than some of the hurricane-regional model guidance (HAFS-B, HMON).

frick, this thing is going to be an overachiever

Not a chance. There was a massive pile when I passed this morning.

4pm center of cone track is

Rockefeller wildlife Refuge to
Between Gueydan and Kaplan to
Rayne to
Opelousas.

Remember that is only the center, and depending on the size of the eye at landfall and just after, the strongest winds could be 10 to 25 miles on either side of that line.

At this point every small shift could make a big difference in exactly where the worst damage will occur. But somewhere in the warning area will get the eyewall.

Rain for me in north AL keeps going down. Less than an inch now.
We could use it.

Nothing like having a giant pile of rubble & debris right before a giant storm with high winds is about to pass over.

Visible looks like an eye is clearing out. Now we can watch instant wobbles on satellite and radar for another 48 hours.
