Slightly above room temperature is ideal actually. That’s why I put the generator in an interior room and huddle around it.
allowing the exhaust to vent into the house builds up positive pressure inside which can help prevent windows breaking in high winds.

Alot of people in my Lafayette area have been very lucky regarding hurricane landfalls for generations now. The talking point is "oh well I was perfectly fine for Ida. And I was fine for Laura. My trees can handle it."
The reality is there is a massive difference between getting the outer bands 100 miles away from the eye and getting hit head on by a hurricane and experiencing its eyewall. The eyewall packs a punch even if its not a major hurricane.

I wouldn't be suprised this fricking thing shoots straight up into Houston overnight. Just seems like a perfect condition for absolute chaos.

Well, now we have "gut feelings" for landfall from Mississippi to Houston.

I build a very small fire around mine.

HWRF, HMON, HAFS, ECMWF, all show it as category 2 (at varying degrees of cat 2) before landfall.

Ok I’m done. Finished prepping and cranked my generator so I don’t have to do it during the storm.

Good. Can I come over there and hang out if I lose power for a while?

SIAP, but just skimming through the radar, it looks like an eye started opening about 30m ago and is growing.
Yes, I see that.

Man, they had a whole family die after Laura because they put the generator in the garage and ran it
After Surviving Hurricane Laura, 4 Members Of One Family Die From Carbon Monoxide Fumes

A generator placed in the garage filled the home with carbon monoxide during the night, according to authorities and relatives.
They had left the garage door open for ventilation, but winds from the storm likely blew it closed, allowing the poisonous gas to seep into the home, Rosalie's son, Lyle Lewis, 55, told The Daily Advertiser.
It's crazy to me this still happens.
Another one I saw a lot of was people putting the exhaust next to the intake of the window unit.

I’m pretty sure the eye passed within 25 miles of Pville.

It really is. How do you own a generator and not know the absolute very basics about using it?
Sad

Got the inlet/ interlock installed to hook up the portable generator to the panel last week.
Pulled out the portable generator which I haven't started since Ida. Put some gas in it and started right up with the electric starter; Westinghouse 9500.
