whhen people agree with the concepts or arguments, "black lives matter" has a particular meaning

arguing "all lives matter" just ignores their specific point and/or tries to dismiss it entirely

it does nothing for the discussion and is an attempt at being clever with faux outrage when it's criticized

That's assuming most black people don't want to help their community. Which is very ignorant on your part

Then where's the effort to take their communities back and address incidents of violence within them? Whenever there's an issue here in primarily black communities it's "we don't snitch".

I had two former students this year burned alive by the head of a local gang because they witnessed the murder. Their mother knew they were involved in the gang and encouraged it. She failed to cooperate with police because she wasn't "snitching". And then had the nerve to get on the news and blame the police for not "better protecting" her children. While the black community she belonged to embraced her behavior.

What gives? How exactly is an outside to their community supposed to fix that kind of systematic failure?

Well no fricking shite, but you also don't claim that saying prostate cancer matters is derogatory and divisive.

How can saying that "all lives matter" is in any way, shape, or form considered deorgatory or divisive, and surely will eventually be considered racist. if it's in response to BLM, then it's not that difficult of a concept

Perhaps previously but when police officers are being shot across the country it's time to be highlighting all lives matter rather than only focusing on black lives.

No but you're acting derogatory by trying to tell people that their specific cause doesn't matter.

Incorrect. It furthers the discussion to more than one demographic.

There's nothing "faux" about my beef with BLM.

Black people perish from police encounters at the same rate as whites/others.

Which is actually surprising considering the crime rate in the black demographic.

and again, that's not the point

the point is the outrage over people criticizing ALM

i have beef with BLM but i understand the actual discussion/point and trying to change the discussion (either to a discussion of ALM or just plain criticizing BLM indirectly), does nothing but create more division and advances nothing

Are you that dull? Do you not know the definition of the word "all?"

By saying "all lives matter", that includes black people as well buddy.

Racist

And your response, is a good example of the deflection that we see when people try to bring up larger issues facing low-income, high-crime communities. No PD is perfect, but the only "solution" I'm seeing is to point fingers at everyone else instead of looking in a mirror. While demanding that "white america" does the soul searching instead.

one big reason that "movements" like BLM maintain their momentum is b/c of "bad arguments" that continue to fuel their fire. the underlying argument of BLM is that the community they're fighting for is not understood or represented. by making an argument that misunderstands the discussion or dismisses their representation as a movement is a self fulfilling prophecy giving them plenty of ammo to rally the base

Not when it comes to police brutality, if that's truly the issue here.

quote:

the point is the outrage over people criticizing ALM

Nothing faux about my beef with that, either.

If you can stand there and do the mental gymnastics to assert that ALM is racist with a straight face, that's deplorable.

quote:

BLM by its very nature is divisive and not constructive. At the very least ALM advances the discussion to a common issue that all races have had with police brutality at the same rate, instead of pigeonholing the discussion to one demographic.

In 2015, whites were killed by police at a rate of nearly double.

I already know your argument, there a more whites than blacks and therefore there were more blacks killed by police per capita.

However, crimes committed by blacks far exceeded those committed by whites.
