When will the yacht be ready?

The arrests followed a nearly six-month investigation of the Local Agency Compensated Enforcement, or LACE, a traffic enforcement program funded by district attorneys around the state.
Sounds like something insurance companies would also be willing to back. They could probably get 10 times back what they put into it from raised premiums from all the tickets given out.

Not on Sundays.

If you believe the narrative that intercity minorities have no other choice than to be violent and break the law because poverty is the driving of crime then this story confirms that we really need to pay our law enforcement officers a better wage.

BRPD does it with the DWI Task Force. They have guys getting paid $200k+/yr IIRC

Good luck justifying that baw
Good luck? They don't have to justify shite. Cops rob these special programs blind.
These guys have been doing this for decades. It took a local TV station to bring them down.

A months-long investigation by WVUE-TV, of New Orleans
Let's not forget that this is just the incidents of fraud that WVUE know about. LSP is happy to let these guys operate fraudulent schemes without doing any investigation of their own. There is no telling how many cases of fraud that they just ignore.

How in the hell did he get away with that as long as he did?? He only got caught because a news station investigated.
What a greedy immoral sin of a bitch to charge 80 hours of OT a week, every week. 120 hour weeks consistently? Whatever, you piece of pond scum. He should be hel without bail just for being so stupid.

That storm has been brewing. If an arrest is imminent, I would expect it would be soon.

I anxiously await charges against the DAs who rubber stamp those hours as long as the ticket revenue keeps rolling.

Except they weren't receiving revenue because the cop wasn't actually working
The LSP go out and write 20 tickets in an hour or two and then bill for the entire 8 hour shift. As long as they write enough tickets in that hour or two, no one cares how much they work. It's a complete scam, and it involves far more than just these 4 scumbag troopers.

It makes you wonder if perhaps “Ole Mike” wasn’t getting a kickback from these guys. I don’t think this is the end of this story.
