Yes to recruiters. Many large companies use them to filter out BS applicants and are basically outsourced HR. It won't cost you anything, they take care of your resume, and they likely have (exclusive) access to many of the top jobs in your field.

What field are you in?

I was coming here to congratulate you.
Then I noticed the word "off."
Sorry dude.

LinkedIn premium lets you do a lot more than the base account. I forget but I remember having to do it to be able to message certain people. At any rate, they let you have your first month free

I don't have premium and I've never used a headhunter.

I'm looking for one of those jobs right now. I have to get out of a cube.
Definitely LinkedIn and Indeed. Constantly have recruiters contacting me. Most of the jobs aren't a step up from what I have though.

I saw on a friends FB post this weekend that you can even buy Red Bull w/ EBT. It's getting sweeter by the day, maybe you should go that route!
No seriously, sorry to hear and good luck.

Sounds like you're due a real job anyway.

I would try to think as positively as possible and hold on to some hope that your position is not eliminated.
But I have been there man. I was let go from a sales management position from a Fortune 500 back in January of 2015 with absolutely no notice. The good thing about large companies is there will probably be a decent severance package.
To your previous question, I can only speak to recruiters and head hunters as I have never used LinkedIn premium, but they are well worth it and you might even get lined up with one through your current employer if they do decide to lay you off.
Just hang tough and know that everything ultimately happens for a reason. If you are good at what you do, you will definitely bounce back.
I would also recommend networking with all of your buddies and LinkedIn connections. They may be able to help more than you know and an employee referral usually goes to the top of the pile on job openings.
Best of luck.

I'd have to be really desperate to go back to a cube myself. But sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.
I'm sorry to hear about that. Good luck you.

Will you get some kind of severance? That should give you some more time
I got laid off in a similar situation a couple years ago, and it turned out to be the best thing to happen to me (granted you seem to enjoy your job while I hated mine)

Not for job search.

Yes, but make sure the company pays them - not you.

If you have been selling to the same people for 11 years have your biggest clients all tell your company that if you leave, they leave and will buy from someone else. I would assume in 11 years you have been able to build amazing relationships with them and it would be easy to pull off if your balls were big enough.

is there a local place that interests you?

Out of all of the resume posting websites, I've only got legit responses from Indeed. The rest are full of staffing companies just looking to hire anyone. I had some chick from a marketing firm call and ask me if I wanted a job. Another one was some plumber's association.
A lot are just worthless, so start getting on the horn with your current competitors now and hitting them up for jobs.
