The South did just fine "integrating" with the rest of the United States once the disaster of Reconstruction ended. It provided statesmen, military officers of distinction, captains of industry, and famous artists.
In terms of economics, the South did what it did best, agriculture. It was going to be regressive from the point of view of a modern American today and continues to have pockets of regression because of the nature of the economy and demography.

Bro are you serious? Where were these migration movements to south pre 1970s? In fact, it had the reverse called the great migration out of the economically backwards south to the more prosperous north. The state of Louisiana, a state with valuable resources and strategic geopolitical still being economically backwards compared to its non southern counterparts answers your economic integration portion.

The reconciliation between North and South is one of the most remarkable stories putting past grievances aside after such a brutal war in the history of mankind.

All of this South were traitors shite didn't appear until some communist professors in the universities started teaching shite history to the millennials.

Trump should have pardoned Snowden and Assange early in his tenure.

I think the point he was trying to make is that when General Bragg was commanding troops, the flag for the opposition was the Stars and Stripes. When he ordered his men into combat, they were shooting and killing members of the United States Army. I know on this board somehow, there’s nothing wrong with that, but in the real world…

This is what happens when you give an inch. First it was the monuments and now they're wanting to black/queer wash everything. I'm in my mid-40s, grew up in the Upper MW, and studied in the south...I didn't even know the confederate connection. People are just looking for trouble now. I'm surprised they aren't wanting to rename one of them Fort Hutchinson (despite being a credible as Amber Turd).
I am glad that the issue has come out though. The next time they scream about guns and "common sense laws" all you need to do is point to what happened when they were given an inch with the monuments. I don't care either way on the renaming issue itself but rather the lengths they're going to foment division, project guilt, and change what worked perfectly fine in this melting pot of a country for over 225 years.

Sweet. Nothing like a backwards arse name supporting Statism and authoritarianism, and choosing "liberty."
Progs.

The funniest thing about it all is the commies think it makes a difference.

That migration was a benefit to Louisiana and perhaps other southern states. I can't fathom how much more fricked the state would be without it.
Despite that the population of Louisiana grew or sustained itself proportionally between 1910 - 1990.
Only after 1990 did the functional population of Louisiana begin to decrease proportionally.
Louisiana's current problems are mostly related to the shite politicians of Huey Long and Edwin Edwards who pandered to the poor (just like the Reconstruction governors of the state) combined with Federal policies in the 1960s that flooded the urban centers with the indigent.

My ancestors helped establish Tennessee in to statehood and fought against the British. That is way more honorable for this country than being a fricking traitor.
