Fort Bragg might ditch its Confederate traitor name and be renamed Fort Liberty

It makes no sense why we have military bases named after god forsaken traitors to this country.

Furthermore, let’s remember those who fought bravely for our freedom under Washington, Sherman, and Lincoln.

Why can’t people let go of the past - none of them fought in the civil war and I think everyone is anti-slavery…right?

Fort Polk leaders made the decision to change base name to Fort Johnson.

From Polk to Johnson. Can’t make this stuff up

If half the country rebels to do what they think is right for that country that doesn't make them traitors. No single group gets to decide what constitutes being a traitor. Was Edward Snowden a traitor because he blew the whistle on the intelligence community surveillance state? The intelligence community probably says yes, but your average American probably says no. Who gets to have the say on whether or not Snowden is a traitor?

The confederacy thought they were fighting FOR the country, not against it (and so did the Union). Yes, they were morally wrong in their stances (most notably slavery), but they weren't trying to destroy the country.

A traitor label is for someone trying to betray and destroy the country from which they reside.

To say a confederate soldier from Georgia was a "traitor" you'd be implying he was betraying Georgia and fighting against Georgia. Do you believe that's what he was doing?

Braxton Bragg screwed the pooch at Chickamauga and Chattanooga. You'd think that the Union would see him as a hero.

And the American Patriots were fighting for the British Empire not against it too. They were just upset farmers that’s all.

Killing members of the U.S Armed Forces does.
