Wow what a fricked up situation. Junior and senior get drunk and have consensual sex, girl cries rape because she doesn’t want her BF to find out...2 years later he’s charged with carnal knowledge and is now a sex offender. Insane

A) The rape charge was dropped.

B) He plead guilty to carnal knowledge. He could have gone to trial.

C) He doesn't have to register as a sex offender.

There is. He was more than 2 years older than her. 18 and 16 can have more than 2 years between them.

Then this site has it all wrong. I thought there was a law, but I got this when I googled.

LINK

quote:

Louisiana does not have a close-in-age exemption. Close in age exemptions, commonly known as "Romeo and Juliet laws", are put in place to prevent the prosecution of individuals who engage in consensual sexual activity when both participants are significantly close in age to each other, and one or both partners are below the age of consent.
Because there is no such "Romeo and Juliet law" in Louisiana, it is possible for two individuals both under the age of 17 who willingly engage in intercourse to both be prosecuted for statutory rape, although this is rare. Similarly, no protections are reserved for sexual relations in which one participant is a 16 year old and the second is a 17 or 18 year old.

I'm sure this sucks for Pryce, but shite people, use your brain. If you're 18+, having consensual sex with someone younger than 17 is still a crime, provided she's 2+ years younger than you.

It's not like this is some new law. They're called jailbait for a reason. It's 1000% not worth it.

The laws can and should still be criticized.

Fair enough.

This guy can still get it expunged from his record and he does not have to register as a sex offender. There is at least a little leniency in the law.

The laws suck, this situation sucks and the girls family should not have pressed charges.

This sounds like something some bible thumping Christian conservative Parkview Baptist parents would do.
