I know him and his family. He did nothing against the law. This whole ordeal has been devastating to them......not to mention the amount of $$ they have shelled out. It was consensual and there were witnesses. The laws suck, this situation sucks and the girls family should not have pressed charges.

The only good thing about his misdemeanor plea is that it can be expunged. He still have went to trial.

To clarify, my high school girlfriend was a year younger than me. We dated for two years. You do the math. No way she brings charges on me.

You would think so. But I'm almost positive that within the last 10 years, the exemption for within 2 years was there. That means that the legislature purposely removed the exemption, thus, not scrivener.

I don't know of that law. If that's true, then can they be prosecuted for statutory rape if they beat themselves off when they are 16 and younger?

from the article in 2016 the friend cited the girl as saying:

I seem to recall it was a law proposed in SC(?). It wasn't the original intent of the law but it was a ramification.

This is crazy. I remember "the talk" with my Dad was a go-get-em pep talk. I'm not sure what I'm going to tell my boys- I wonder if getting them a high end sex toy might be the best investment for them as high school graduation presents. It is getting crazy.

This is a product of an ever-growing movement by feminists to completely absolve women from any responsibility in every single sexual encounter they may have. Every time women claim that they have no power in this country and that they are unequal, all you have to do is point to shite like this or the Title IX kangaroo courts on college campuses. This is going to have very serious consequences for the young men of this country. Starting out life as a legal adult with a record of "sexual assault" stemming from consensual sex is basically ruining a kid's life and his ability to be a contributing member of society.
