Does it bother you when people use it to confirm a spelling but use things like
"T as in Tom"
"L as in Lemmon"
I think if you are going to use it as least learn it, there is a reason each word was chosen.

That’s a very old system though. Many things have no usage in vocabulary today.
Tango.
Foxtrot.
What is “Z”? Zulu? Probably be racially insensitive now.
What’s “H”?
Honest question. Hector?

It’s doesn’t bother me when they don’t use the proper phonetic alphabet. But you definitely know when someone was Military or grew up around the military when they do use it properly.

Able Baker Charlie Dog?
Years ago the local Sheriffs dept used names for the phonetic alphabet. Don't know if they still do or if that is common among law enforcement departments

Bruh. They have pills for that now. You don't need to bring your issues to the OT.

I use them both ways - mostly by Military Phonetic, but being in the IT field - sometimes the person on the other end understands Tom and Lemmon easier.
to me the military phonetic way is easier - but then again I attended Basic, so that is why.

That's why you have to throw them off.
"A as in ARE"
"P as in PNEUMATIC"
