Granted, NBA cheerleader not NFL

One former NBA cheerleader said she often worked 30 to 40 hours per week, once rehearsals, workouts, games, and special appearances were added up. Many cheerleaders are not paid by the hour either, but with a set fee for each game or appearance, and many complain about not being compensated at all for practices or travel time.
Never saw the show, but wasnt there a Dallas Cheerleader TV show? That could possibly shed some light.

That is kind of my point. In her lawsuit, it states that the mascot makes $25/hr or $65,000 a year. Even if the mascot worked a normal 40 hr workweek, its still far below $65,000.
Yeah i was thinking this didnt add up. But i know a guy that does some mascot work. And he puts together the whole entertainment for halftime and comes up with the skits and shite.
He doesnt just put on a costume and show up.

t's an epidemic in today's society. Immature and petty children that never grew up are a serious and dangerous major component today. Employee: Hey! That's guy makes more than me! Pay me that! Or I'll sue! Employer: You have different jobs and different responsibilities. Why do you deserve the same pay? We set a clearly defined a wage when you took this job and you accepted it. Employee: I want more! Give me more! The government should force you to give me more! Employer: Why? We offered you a job at a set price and you took it. Why should we be forced to pay you more? Employee: Asking why is misogynist, racist, sexist w/e. Just give me more and give it to me now without a reason other than I demand it. Employer: That's not an intellegent argument. Employee: Talk to my lawyer. I'm suing you for 100,000. It'll cost you 150,000 to litigate. Employer: frick it. Here's 60,000 that you don't deserve to go away. Also, 25,000 of that goes to your lawyer. And we had to pay our lawyer 25,000 to give it to you. Because we don't have a loser pays system. American Tort System: This is totally fine. America Lawyers: We aren't paid enough. We need more law suits. And more law students.
We had a lady at our company try this shite. She happened to be making less than a male and tried to sue for wage discrimination. Didnt get far because there were plenty of other males making less than her.

It is a losing argument any way you slice it. Most companies also have some sort of policy in their employee manual that forbids employees discussing/disclosing their wages with other employees. So, if she brings up what someone else is making, she immediately opens herself up to termination on those grounds.

Ole Rowdy has it made.
Rowdy nugget:
If it's the same guy it was in the 90's, and 00's, it's a black guy.He used to hang out at Hooters in Irving. Drove a van with Rowdy paired on the sides.

Besides all that has been stated, good luck trying to find another job. If she came apply with me, I would laugh her out of the interview and simply state this lawsuit.

It all depends on the team and how they contract the work. Youppi! (Montreal) Rocky (Nuggets) and the Phillie Phanatic make good money and not just for the person in the costume. The Phillies charge $600 an hour for the PhilliePhanatic, 50% off if your a non profit organization.

Ragnar made $1,500 a game last season. The Vikings went into this past offseason looking to change his role and perhaps take him out of gameday situations. And from my understanding, he countered with a financial proposal that would have paid him $20,000 per game.

Now, it’s important within the context of all this to remember Ragnar was an independent contractor and not a team employee

Mascots generally make anywhere from $25,000 a year starting out in the minor leagues to $60,000 in the NFL, NBA, MLB and NHL, said Raymond, who now runs Raymond Entertainment, a character branding and mascot training company which has created and worked on more than 100 mascots over the past 20 years.
Some mascots make more, but not many. “Performers who have been there anywhere between 10 to 20 years, who are full-time salaried performers with benefits and incentives, can earn in the six-figure range, and about 10 percent of the full-time performers are reaching that level of compensation,” Raymond said.

Also, it’s worth noting that the article makes it sound as though most of the higher-paid mascots are in MLB and the NBA, which have 41 or 81 home games instead of 10).

I will also mention this (now Dallas may be a little different because the cheerleaders are kind of iconic): When it comes to a mascot or a cheerleader, which one is more memorable/do can you recall?
I know personally Gumbo is easily recognizable and I know his name but I could not tell you one single current Saintsation's name or face.

There are 41 NBA home games in a season. There are 8 NFL home games and they are always once a week. The NFL has over 5 times the amount of games in a season. Not comparable IMHO

You do know that they are contracted for the entire year and don't just work during sporting events Sept - Jan. They still have practices in off season. Photo Shoots. PR events. The cheerleaders rotate events. The mascot doesn't.
Not saying I agree. I still don't think the mascot works 50 hrs a week either. Just playing Devils advocate because well I was bored.

There's a docuseries on HULU that follows a bunch of professional mascots. It gives a pretty good behind the scenes look on what all it takes to be a mascot. It's a ton more physical than being a cheerleader, and like others have mentioned, the best and highest paid mascots come up with all their stunts, skits, etc... And if they don't deliver @ engaging the crowd they're gone, putting a premium on experience and abilities.
Unlike cheerleaders where there's 20-30 girls who are made out to be an interchangeable symbol and there's a huge supply of competent ones trying out each year vs a high quality mascot performer.

I am fully aware that they work during the off season still but it does not equate to over 40 hours a week. Is there maybe the occasional week that they may work over 40? Sure, but it isn't every single week.

Rowdy made about $25 an hour, or $65,000 a year, the suit says.
You are telling me the cowboys mascot works 50 hour weeks throughout the year?

Every week, no vacations according to the lawsuit.

Too much to read all 4 pages, but this suit was pretty obviously a choice over filing a metoo suit.
