Technically, if I made $25/hr, I could say I make $218,400 per year by their logic.

Damn. Who do you mascot for?

I highly doubt they are paying a mascot to work 40 hours a week, 52 weeks out the year, for a sport that is only from August to February.

ETA: And the games are only one day out the week.

That is kind of my point. In her lawsuit, it states that the mascot makes $25/hr or $65,000 a year. Even if the mascot worked a normal 40 hr workweek, its still far below $65,000.

Bringing in the Mascot's wage is stupid and has no bearing on the matter at hand.

It's an epidemic in today's society. Immature and petty children that never grew up are a serious and dangerous major component today.

Employee:
Hey! That's guy makes more than me! Pay me that! Or I'll sue!

Employer:
You have different jobs and different responsibilities. Why do you deserve the same pay? We set a clearly defined a wage when you took this job and you accepted it.

Employee:
I want more! Give me more! The government should force you to give me more!

Employer:

Why? We offered you a job at a set price and you took it. Why should we be forced to pay you more?

Employee:
Asking why is misogynist, racist, sexist w/e. Just give me more and give it to me now without a reason other than I demand it.

Employer:
That's not an intellegent argument.

Employee:
Talk to my lawyer. I'm suing you for 100,000. It'll cost you 150,000 to litigate.

Employer:
frick it. Here's 60,000 that you don't deserve to go away. Also, 25,000 of that goes to your lawyer. And we had to pay our lawyer 25,000 to give it to you. Because we don't have a loser pays system.

American Tort System:
This is totally fine.

America Lawyers:
We aren't paid enough. We need more law suits. And more law students.

The funny thing is, this right here is an offense that can warrant termination on its own.

Is she contending that NFL cheerleaders work more than 40 hours per week specifically dedicated to cheerleading?

There's no way that's correct, right?

I worked with a few Saintsations back in the day and they did not get anywhere near close to 40 hours. I think they would practice 2 maybe 3 days a week for 2-3 hours tops. They did have to sell the calendars and were required to go to certain events. To me the dumbest thing, the girls had to pay for the uniforms themselves and did not get to keep them.

Also what I don't get, you try out for this position knowing EXACTLY what it entails and how much you will be paid, etc so why are you bitching NOW?

I can see the $25/hr part but working 40 hours a week when the season is only a few months long???? Maybe 6 hours for each game (20-23 games counting preseason and playoffs) plus some charity/fundraiser events.

I guess he does work Sunday's and Holidays so that could be double time LOL.

Cheerleaders should get paid a little more but at the end of the day they are really only using it as self promotion for a modeling/advertising type of career path or landing a rich guy from the publicity.

That's what I figured and only from August - December.

The whole law suit is obnoxious to me.

100% this. Does anyone ever really pay attention to the cheerleaders besides to stare at them? If they went away, it would not change one thing about the experience to me. Do the cheerleaders in the NFL even start any actual cheers?

frick, I should be a mascot for a sports team. I’ll happily get paid $65k a year to work one day a week and dance around.

I thought they did this knowing they do not get paid that much to do it. In other words, it was more of an opportunity thing...

No one is buying tickets and merchandise because they like the cheerleaders.

Seriously?

NFL Sunday if they get there at 10am for a noon game that ends at 3:15 and they leave at 4 is 6 hours.

You think they practice 34 hours a week every week and sometimes more than that? There's no way.

They do. They know exactly what they are getting into and all know it's not a full-time job. This suit just screams "I don't want to work and think this could be free money"

Yea practice won't be it. They probably practice 8-10 hours per week during the season. What would probably do it is if they had some random functions in a given week as well, plus selling calendars or something like that, not sure how that is handled. That wouldn't however put them over 40 hours on a consistent basis. Maybe a random week here or there.

In that case, should be pretty easy to prove if she was or was not paid her overtime. If she's paid, hourly, they have some type of time card/sheet.

If one of these cheerleaders win their lawsuit, I would bet the teams start deleting the program. Other then to have attractive women around the stadium, they serve zero purpose.

The pro cheerleaders I have known all own or work for dance studios when they're not doing cheerleader stuff. I assumed they didn't make much money cheerleading since they are teaching dancing classes all of the time

Eta: Her tits look like they don't like each other. Maybe she needs the money to get them closer together
