Foreign vehicle owners: If American branded vehicles weren't such crap, would you buy one?

Haven't owned an American branded vehicle since mid 90s (Mrs. udtiger's Grand Cherokee). Haven't personally owned one since mid 80s.
The quality, reliability and price advantage of foreign cars over American brands has always been the reason (as well as frick the UAW as a bonus). I suspect I am not unique.
So, the question is: if tomorrow those advantages evaporated and the quality, reliability and pricing for domestic/American branded vehicles was on par with your preferred foreign manufacturer (Honda/Toyota), would you "come home" and "buy American?" And to be clear, not just the vehicles, but the dealership and service experience as well.
If so, what would you buy?

I had a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo that lasted me 14 years and almost 200k miles before I sold it. The most major thing that failed on that car was the power window motors.
I definitely would not consider that vehicle "crap".
Bought a 2019 Chevy Trail Boss crew cab after selling the Cherokee. Hopefully I get another 14 years from this one.

I would. Yukon Denali. With super cruise for the trips.
But frick that 5.3 that is still eating lifters in that unnecessary Displacement on Demand BS they will not drop. I mean seriously.. you have been building the V8 since 1955 and you have failing valve lifters now??
Will be buying a Toyota Sequoia TRD or Platinum late this year or early next instead.

If they were affordable, sure. American car companies have completely left the small car market so I really have no choice but to buy foreign.

The only reason I’d ever stray from Lexus is my urge to have a manual sports car like a 911.
Other than that I’m strictly Lexus For Life.

That "domestic is crap" mindset is from 15-20 years ago.
Average time a consumer keeps a car is somewhere around 7 years. Most cars of any make will last that long with routine maintenance.
Honda quality is on the decline.
Toyotas are way overpriced.

In J.D. Power’s study last year, Honda didn’t exactly garner much attention — it ranked 19th in dependability. There were 33 automakers on the list, so Honda placed in the middle of the pack. But in this year’s study, Honda dropped to 28th place.

Fisher believes the differences stemmed from choices made by both manufacturers over the years. “Toyota has doubled down, not on making the sexiest vehicles, but on making vehicles that are very, very reliable,” he said. “Whereas, Honda is upping their game in terms of how their cars perform – the quietness, comfort, and smoothness of their high-tech transmissions and engines. But their reliability is not what it once was.”

Yes, if Chevy quit cutting corners on their trucks and made them in America again, I’d definitely buy one. They make the sharpest looking trucks, they just suck. So I buy Totoya, which is actually a more American truck anyway. Chevy, not long ago, had great trucks. Such a shame.

Yes, but the majority of American cars are still pieces of shite.
I'll just stick to Toyota and Lexus

Absolutely,
I hate that I have to by foreign for reliability

How the frick would you know?
I've put hundreds of thousands of miles on domestic vehicles with very few issues. Currently driving a Ford Edge Sport with 184k miles on it that has had just one issue with the AC being the only non maintenance money I've spent on it.

I currently have an Expedition, first American car. It's ok, but does not inspire confidence and I would not have bought it but for the space and towing capacity. I want it to last 15 years, but not sure it will.

Because when researching every purchase during that time, I compare those factors among vehicles, and at every turn, the foreign vehicles "won."
I also pay attention to recall announcements.

Another reason I don't have a problem buying Japanese cars is that they're all built in America by American workers. My Nissan was built in Mississippi.

You have no actual experience, and you likely just are listening to bullshite parroted to you by others that still think it's the 90s.

Compared to what? Sure the trucks are, but not sure about the cars.

We currently have an accord and odyssey
They are not perfect, but there’s a solid quality about them I enjoy
(Don’t underestimate the solid firm closing of a car door to the ears)
Anyway, the last American car I truly enjoyed was a 2004 standard ford focus gt
I loved that little car

I buy nothing but Toyota. Have put over 200 miles on everyone I’ve owned with ZERO issues. No reason to experiment with Ford, Dodge, or Chevy’s junk.
