Eagle Tire on Claiborne in Central City is the GOAT.

In San Antonio you can get a tire installed for about $50 from one of those Mexican shops… it’ll be a used tire though.

The hood shop saved my arse with used tires when my tire size was unobtanium during the peak of covid. I waited months for Michelins to come in at Costco, rode around on some mis matched used tires for a few months for less than getting a patch. My tires were failing from age, I bought this SUV from a granny and after one separated and failed, upon inspection another one was showing signs of separation I just decided ghetto used tires were better than what I had.

$600 to replace four tires? Are you driving a street legal go cart?
I wish I could pay that. I pay about $1200 for my vehicle.

No kidding. The last set I bought for my truck were 2,000 with taxes.

Yep. $1600 for BFG KO2s last month. Pretty sure this is OP:

Check the dates of those tires, could be the reason you got them so cheap.

And unless you are looking to improve your laptime at the local road course the date is essentially meaningless.

It's fricking insane that you can't get a patch unless it's in the dead center of the tread. fricking shitbag lawyers.
When I bought my truck, I bought the extra tire/wheel warranty (It was around $500) because of this. Twice I've had a simple nail or screw and both times the dealership just swapped the tire without even looking at it. With the price of tires today, the warranty already paid for itself. One of the nails was just about right in the middle of the tire. I would have plugged that all day and never thought about it again if I didn't have that.

Those Potenzas are one of the best ultra high performance all season tires out there.
You probably drive a big arse truck or SUV.

Was there actually some kind of liability involved in this? I thought it was just tire places trying to make a sale. I noticed things changed about 10(?) years ago. Those assholes always take the tire off and then tell you they won't patch it too. As if having removed it from the rim is supposed to be some kind of final act. I just tell them to put that shite back together and then I go to the llanteria down Hwy 59. Last couple of times I just skipped the Sam's Tire Shop "free repair" guarantee and went to see my amigos instead.
Yeah its a liability issue with the big national chains. I had an all-wheel drive car and they wouldn't replace a single tire they had to replace all four otherwise it could frick up the differential....according to them and it was their corporate policy.
Went down the road and found a Middle Eastern guy at an independent shop who slapped a tire on there no problem

$150 for four tires? Why the hell did you buy? They come bald already?

I used to get my tires replaced from a third world looking shop in Athens. The tires were used, basically new tires on a car that gets totalled, so they take the perfectly good tires off the car going to the crusher. Cash only. They were around $25 a tire and maybe $50 labor. This was on sedans, never tried it with truck/suv tires. Also, there's no waiting room, no coffee maker, etc. Not even a service counter. You pull into the shitty parking lot and some sweaty homeless looking guy comes walking up real slow to ask what you want. You stand around in the parking lot under a tree for shade while they slap them on. Never once had a problem. Saved a ton of money.

GMC Canyon All Terrain and a 100 series Land Crusier. I wouldn’t call them big arse.

Used to have a 30-year-old Ranger. It only made the occasional trip to the dump. If I needed a tire for it, I headed straight to the Mexican used tire places. They have their place.

Wife needed new tires for her Expedition a few years ago. It was going to cost over $700. Someone suggested a used tire shop so I went to the one by my work. Got four used tires(all 2 years old, same brand) for $140 total. Those lasted about four years with no issues.
