On one hand, getting a new car is fun and we're literally shitting in this guy's mouth on what is probably the most exciting day of 2018 for him.
On the other hand, 48k for a Ford Explorer, man

This moron was bragging on his deal that included gap insurance. Let that sink in. He can vote and reproduce. I guess the joke is on us.

My "out-the-door" cost was under $48k. Put $5k down and financed the rest since I don't have to pay any interest.
Try turning around today and trading it back in. This will then tell you how good of a deal you got. Or didn't.
Approximately $718 in payments. And it will be paid off, if following the payment schedule in 1,825 days.
Insurance is extra. And maintenance. After the 1095th day.
Congratulations.

I love it when a thread doesn’t quite turn out the way the OP had planned it would.

I’ll give him the benefit and assume he’s a troll

Sweet deal. How many miles did it have on it when you bought it new?

If there is one thing I despise, it's buying a car. I hate this shite with a passion that would fuel the hate of every religious/nationalistic lunatic that walked this terra firma, we call earth.
I will drive a truck until the wheels fall off and I can see through the floorboard. Why? Because I despise going into a car dealership and playing their stupid game.
I actually had a salesperson...cry... because I walked out. He calls me a day later saying he is ready to renegotiate. "You could have offered me that deal yesterday and you didn't. I question your integrity, hell, I question your sanity".

Doesn’t remove the fact it’s a Ford.

To put this into perspective, the first house I bought cost $50,000. I sold it for a healthy profit. You will never recover the losses that you spend on a car/truck. Your only option is to buy...
A union co-worker of mine bought a Chevrolet truck. The salesman called and said "Your truck just arrived in Jacksonville". "Where did it come from"?
"Uh, Mexico".
My Toyota was "assembled" in Indiana. 180,000 miles and still running.

By the way. I actually paid my credit union $80 to go through the bullshite when I bought my truck. I knew what I wanted, didn't care about playing the STUPID GAME.
It's kinda like Las Vegas. They didn't build those showrooms by losing money.

You don't understand what "out-the-door" cost is. That's everything. Car, sales taxes, gap insurance, all fees, title, license and registration.
They forgot to give you something you may want to purchase....
or not. Just saying...

$56K sticker, $48K paid.
They got you good. That's not much of discount for a domestic.

$4500 in taxes alone. Any new SUV will be $35K+.
OP might've made a bad move by buying said SUV, but 270,000 Ford Explorers were sold in 2017.
They actually look nice. Unsure about long-term reliability though.

There are legitimately good cars for that price and he bought a Ford minivan instead.
