From the planned 3,200 a week to 1,600. Workers are being shifted to another plant to ramp up Bronco and Ranger production.
quote:

“We are taking advantage of our manufacturing flexibility to offer customers choices while balancing our growth and profitability. Customers love the F-150 Lightning, America’s best-selling EV pickup,” said Ford President and CEO Jim Farley. “We see a bright future for electric vehicles for specific consumers, especially with our upcoming digitally advanced EVs and access to Tesla’s charging network beginning this quarter.”

Might as well produce some vehicles that consumers want to buy.

I didn't know they were making near that many. Where are these selling at to justify a quantity of even 1600 a week?

That number still seems nuts considering that they only sold 3,000 in Q3, the last reported quarter.

Plus most purchase prices will top the $80k mark so no $7500 reduction in the price with the new tax credit structure.

They got some fleet orders early on that got them all geeked up and then everyone realized how big of piece of shite it is.

I just don’t see your average truck buyer wanting an EV truck when gas options are available cheaper.

Maybe a few suburban men who really don’t need a truck and woke companies using them for fleet vehicles

I really love the idea of an EV truck. I drive 60 miles round trip all highway for work, but need the ability to throw shite in the bed of a truck. Having AWD or Four wheel drive is a huge plus as well.

There just isn’t a reliable version of that truck yet. Once there is I’ll own one. OT can mock me all they want.

Ford lays out the problem in one short sentence. Small minority of buyers doesn’t appease to mass audience.

The Lightning will be a collectors car in a few short weeks similar to the Studabaker.

Any company operating under the 100 air mile exemption would save a ton of money going to EV trucks for the 1/2 ton needs but there just aren't any decent models out there yet.

Why would the OT mock a reliable option?

The OT is mocking the unreliable, unfeasible and extremely expensive option being foisted on people right now.

You know why internal combustion engines aren't Mocked? Because they work. You know what happens to one's that don't work? They get mocked.

2024 will be very interesting for EV's.

I think EV's have a place, but the market needs to dictate how that works. The "second car" plan seems to be the most viable.

I think the increase in EV demand will cool, EV demand itself will cool, and Toyota ICE/Hybrid will rule.

Detroit is going to wake up (again for the 4th time) and see they missed the market. Many will tire of look-the-same SUVs and their only options will be a Camry or Corolla, no Impala or Fusion.
