BREAKING: @Tesla CEO @elonmusk and Ford CEO @jimfarley98 have announced a partnership starting early next year that will give Ford EV customers access to more than 12,000 Tesla Superchargers across the U.S. & Canada.
In 2025, Ford will offer next-gen EVs with the North American Charging Standard (NACS) connector built-in, eliminating the need for an adapter to access Tesla Superchargers.

The Twitter Spaces discussion today between Ford CEO and Elon was pretty interesting to listen to - LINK
Some highlights:
- Tesla is building a lithium refining plant in Corpus Christi
- Farley's kids gave him a hard time about Ford's lack of conveniently located EV chargers last summer on a road trip from Lake Tahoe to Monterey and they kept pointing out all the great locations Tesla super chargers were in
- Farley said building cars whose software updates OTA is really hard and Tesla has done it better than anyone else
- Elon offered Farley help with Ford's software efforts by open sourcing more of Tesla's technology

I wonder if Ford booted Rivian because they wanted to snuggle up to Elon. It’s a solid upgrade if so.

Isn’t Rivian Amazon owned?

Still not being an EV.

Yeah I think they are now. Ford was deep on Rivian a while back and they parted ways. Which everyone thought was weird since RJ interned at Ford and had a pretty good relationship with them. Everyone assumed Rivian would essentially becomes Fords EV line until suddenly one day they broke up.

I loathe this shite with modern vehicles. I want the days where some drunk guy named Bill who lived down on the corner could fix any damn thing that was wrong with your vehicle. You pay for the parts, trade him an old lawn mower, and give him $100 and you're back on the road.

My paw paw and I used to work on the family vehicles when I was a kid. I'd never attempt much today. Outside of improvements in safety it's a bunch of shite we don't need.

It’s 2023, so you can be what you want to be.

You can still do that if you're willing to drive a car that doesn't have power anything or any sort of electronics.

Used to be that the fuel pump or the carburetor would crap out and dicker your afternoon by making you have to thumb it or hoof it to a payphone. Nowadays you can be having a good time the night before watching a video of some horny chick fricking a gearshift and the next thing you know your phone has given your car's "infotainment" system a virus via bluetooth and now your Jetsons mobile is carrying your arse at 150 miles per smack dab into the Mississippi river and all you can think about is where that automatic punch that drunk Bill gave you for the window after taking $20 off of you because you didn't know that it really could break the window on a '87 Buick with one push. fricked....you're just all the way fricked because you wanted to see if she could get the whole shifter knob all in.

I suspect that even EV adapters are male and female

That's all the science we need right there.

How about just the basic good electronics that even thought they'll frick your driving up when they crap out more often they're still worth it. Like power steering, ABS, transmission if you want. Not a fully programmed CPU running every aspect of the engine.
The 80s was a good balance. And cars were much more affordable
Why can't we just have that option at least. The only option is a car actually from the 1980s or before

That is word salad that I might be willing to unwind during the white supremacist hours but I'm already up past my bedtime. But I'm off tomorrow

This is huge. The Tesla chargers are SOOO much easier to use than the new CCS chargers.

An EV is just a fancy golf cart. All you need is a $5 Harbor Freight multi-meter and roll of electrical tape to fix it

An ICE engine needs about 30-40 electronic sensors and components to run properly.

Off tomorrow too, I would have been WFH, but "F" it, in need of a long weekend, and the wife is off too. Balancing a 8-4 schedule with the wife's hospital schedule and small kids

Good, only a 2 hour wait for 50 miles
