As said up earlier in the post, this is for EVs and a result of competing with Tesla. So looking out to 2030 for instance, how much of the business will be EV?
So who is the seller of record? Ford or a local dealer? If it is a local dealer and Ford sets a maximum price is that not price fixing?

I like it. Screw those dealer markup prices. They're fricken ridiculous. Let me buy at cost without all the haggling.

Fine with me. The most profitable part of a dealership is service. Dealerships exist to provide service and repairs and it's been that way for about 30 years. Sure they make a few hundred bucks on a car or truck but based on land, labor, and capital the service and repair portion provides the higher returns.

He might cut out the dealership but I doubt that the savings will be passed on to consumers.

I’ve often wondered why you couldn’t order a vehicle straight from the manufacturer. In today’s day and age of internet and customizable orders it would just make sense.

This wouldn't look so bad if Ford even actually had an F1 team, making your ramblings even more dumb.

quote:It's just the supply right now. Raptors have always pretty much been sticker or a little above. I bought my 2020 for about 5k off when the pandemic first hit. I paid $1k over for my 2018. I recently tried to buy another. I was getting $10k over on a truck due in July to $20k to ones on the lot now. That's if they would even call me back. I wound up buying a GMC at sticker. Got $500 more than I paid for my 2020 raptor with 39k mi.
Isn't there something a little hideous to Ford about a dealer upcharging 40K for a Raptor? They weren't going for MSRP at 84 grand, they were listed at 124 grand. This can't continue. And it won't. Perhaps the dealers need it to last a year only??
Check out Town East Ford in Dallas. If my memory serves me that was the upcharging dealer. There are likely many more.
I think this will subside with supply. Even Honda dealers are getting 1-2k over sticker or more. I had one try to hit me $6k of add ons on a 2022 Civic for my kid.

Pretty sure they failed because they were ugly pieces of shite.
That, combined with quality/fit/finish issues and no room to haggle over price/options.
I don't care either way really as Ford isn't and won't be on my radar in the near future. But, judging by the response of the board here, it looks like there will at least be decent support for it. So maybe Saturn was just ahead of their time. The tech just didn't exist to buy directly from the manufacturer back then. So they had the idea, just not the infrastructure to execute, as people still had to go to a dealership and could more than likely walk next door to another dealership and haggle on price and get a better deal.
It is an interesting model in today's day and age.

Competition between dealers keep the prices down you idiot.
Has zero to do with the costs involved to manufacture a vehicle so it’s nothing more than an extra layer of costs applied on top of the vehicle itself.

Who is gonna repair a vehicle they can’t sell - meaning dealers

Are you under the impression the service center is a loss leader or something?
Some of you post the easiest things to explain like it's going to be some gotcha to a CEO that's been thinking about this for months with other people.

Any time you remove competition from a market it is ultimately bad for the consumer. Dealerships have cut each other’s throats on new car prices for two decades. As soon as the manufacturers have control then they won’t offer any discounts or negotiate, just like Tesla.
